If Obama really does become a moderate with a GOP controlled Congress, then it will, also, become much more difficult to defeat Obama in 12. A few other possibilities:
- The Republicans restore the current tax rates and gut Obamacare, and businesses start hiring like crazy.
- The Republicans ignore the economy and expend political capital on "social" issues.
- Iran does something stupid and Obama responds like a "real" commander-in-chief (I know, this one is remote -- at least the second part)
- The Republicans start investigating Obama for any reason.
The situation is much like 1994. Obama has his opportunity for redemption, but I don't think he is willing to compromise. On the other hand, the Republicans can screw this up by not focusing on the economy and getting the government out of the way of all employers, large and small.

Obama’s way ahead of Clinton. Obama got Obamacare. Two SCOTUS justices already. Looks like cap and trade is gonna go the way of the BTU tax, but you never know. Ok, so Obama and Congress are gonna pay a political price. So what? You send your army into battle, you expect to take some losses, especially on bold moves. So they’ll take some losses. Obama and DEMs won a lot already.
