At 36 through 42, Madison shows how the states could resist a tyrannical move from the federal government. Yet by 1865, this was no longer operative. What means do the states have today to resist federal encroachment?I maintain that he states still have all of the powers they ever had. All that is lacking is leadership with the will to exercise those powers.
