Gang members themselves are the latest to come out against police Supt. Jody Weis' strategy to put pressure on them and curb gang violence.
At 10 a.m., gang members are expected to hold a news conference at the Columbus Park Refectory, at 5701 W. Jackson Blvd. on the city's West Side.
Gang members are also expected to attend another news conference that is being held by local clergy at 11 a.m., at the New Life Christian Ministries of Greater Chicago, 8201 S. Jeffery Blvd.
They are taking issue with Weis' strategy of meeting with gang leaders and warning them of serious consequences if violence continues.
Weis held a meeting with the reputed leaders of several West Side gangs at the Garfield Park Conservatory over the weekend. At the meeting, prosecutors warned that the gang members could be charged under the federal racketeering laws if killings were traced back to gangs with members attending the meeting.

The political left in Chicago is taking these thugs seriously (Ayers, Father Flaky et al) because in some precincts these thugs are the political muscle.
DUH, what was I thinking, their leader ObIWONa has been holding press conferences for almost two years now.
I wouldn’t live in Chicago for anything.
Only in Chicago can gangs call press conferences to complain about the police.

Unbelievable, that’s for sure. I don’t think I have ever heard of criminals calling a press conference before. Next they’ll be running for office - and getting elected.
Why not just shoot them all at the press conference?

It takes some time for the comments to get going, and the language is pretty strong at times, too, but it’s a great blog.
What a crock! When will people give it up with their whine about “harassment”? The public is harassed by gangs. Who should I sympathize with?

It seems to me that the police should just round them up when they show up to the meetings and take them off to jail.
If not, lock them up in a solidly built room and dump guns and ammo through a small hole in the ceiling and invite a rival gang.
The gang members who remain alive get to go work on building a fence on the border for a few years.
LOL - I fear that ship has sailed.
I just want to see which Chicago media outlet actually attends this press conference. Giving free exposure to these thugs just emboldens them. I’m sure The Oprah will have them scheduled to her show next week.
