A Month in the life of George W. Bush (News and many Photos) September 2005
georgewbush-whitehouse.archives.gov/news ^ | September 5, 2010

Posted on 09/05/2010 5:29:14 PM PDT by Kaslin

The month of September 2005 was a very busy month for President Bush after Katrina came on land at the Gulf coast and damaged the area. We see President Bush and First Lady Laura visiting New Orleans and other affected areas in Louisiana and Mississippi to comfort the victims of the hurricane and bring aid
The country lost Chief Justice William Renquist who passed away on September 3, 2005
President Bush nominated Judge Roberts to become the next Chief Supreme Court Justice. On September 29th Justice Roberts was sworn in as the 20th? Supreme Court Chief Justice.
President Bush remembered 9/11 heroes at a Medal of Valor ceremony. He also met with several foreign leaders and addressed the Useless Nations
For the quote of the month I have chosen President Bush’s Remarks which he gave at the National Day of Prayer and Remembrance Service on September 16, 2005

Wonderful bunch of photos!

One thing really strikes me...how BUSY President Bush was.

Now when you read the schedule for Obama, it’s like this:

10:00 AM Receives the daily briefing
11:00 AM Received the economic briefing
12:00 PM Lunch with the vice-president
3:00 PM Speech in the Rose Garden
4:00 PM Departs for (Camp David, Maine, Martha’s Vineyard, North Carolina, etc.)

You are amazing. Thank you so much for your work. I know many of us get teary looking at the photos and reading GWB's words.

However, it is also encouraging to remember the good that can be accomplished in our country--to remember what it is like to have an honorable president, a true leader, a man of integrity at the helm of our country. It hurts, but it is good and valuable to look back.

Thank you.

Thank You so much for these wonderful pictures. I cried all the way thru them. At some point the song “Memories, pressed between the pages of my mind” got stuck inside my head in the process. While I thought so much of President Reagan, it didn’t come close to the way I felt about President Bush and Laura. I came to LOVE them as if they were Family! Never in my life have I seen a President with such a kind and loving Heart(and I’ve been around since FDR.) President Bush truly Cared—some things one just can’t Fake. May God Bless him. Again, Thank you.....

We should never demand one man or one woman fill up the big empty space of all our expectations.

Very well said!!

I grew up in Florida, so I was in several hurricanes. My Dad was always there to explain exactly what to do and what was going on and I always felt safe.

I miss my Daddy.

My husband and I were in the Los Angeles earthquake in 1987. That was much more nerve racking, but it was over quick (although it seemed longer).

Thanks for posting this Dose!

Looking through these pictures I'm struck with Laura's class and demeanor. I think, through the MSM's continual mention of Michelle Obama's 'fashion savvy', they're not so subtly hinting that Laura wore clothing that was dowdy and UN-fashionable.

Seeing these pictures reminds me that Laura was very comfortable in her clothing choices, and picked those garments that were fashionable, but also APPROPRIATE for both her age, and the event she was attending. We NEVER had to cringe at the thought of anything Laura might wear. Oh sure sometimes we'd criticize a belt on an evening dress, or something like that, but nothing she wore was ever outlandish or silly.

No one ever had to tell President Bush to "Man up !"

It's a great comfort to see all these photos of the honorable couple who led the country for eight short years.

President Bush was speaking at the Tarrant County College Foundation luncheon in Fort Worth yesterday. He had some very funny things to say in his speech. But the best part he said was:

“I don’t think it’s befitting the office of the presidency to go out and be criticizing my successor,” he said. “I didn’t like it when some of my predecessors - a predecessor - criticized me.”

Once again, he shows nothing but true class, and not naming the other pathetic president who bashed him (Jimmy Carter!)

“In Fort Worth, Bush stays quiet on Obama”

Some very funny quotes from GWB:

“Former President Bush taking things seriously now - except himself”

OUR president is a classy gentleman...while the others
are low class scum.

He would never lower himself to their level! God bless GWB!

Right on, luvvie!

He has true class, of which the other one
cannot even conceive.

Thank you so much, Kas, for your devotion
to our wonderful look back on just how much
we were blessed with Pres. and Laura Bush.

And thanks, patty and all, for the great photos
and additions.

Come back, President Bush !

(if only ... ;)
