Reid Hopes For Castle's (Delaware) Cap And Trade Vote In Lame Duck Session

Would the conservatives arguing about the power of a Republican majority with Mike Castle  please get back to me on this?

Reid Claims Two GOP Votes For Cap and Trade During Lame Duck

Harry Reid himself may not be too much opposed to the GOP establishment getting its way in Delaware. Mike Castle, currently a Congressman, voted FOR Cap and Trade and is, according to some rumors, thought to be one of the two GOP votes on which Reid is counting. Castle also supported and co-sponsored the “Disclose Act” which would have prevented groups like the Tea Party Express and others from effecting an upset in Alaska, where a GOP establishment candidate fell to a populist candidate, Joe Miller.

Any chance we can talk Castle into campaigning with Harry?

Yep.

And they’re sending out little Castle trolls to all the conservative blogs, etc. and attacking O’Donnell viciously. I thought the GOP elites were supposed to be about ‘civility’ and ‘being nice to everybody’...

Here is yet another issue Sharron Angle and use against Reid. This bill is a job killer and people in Nevada and in particular Las Vegas will be able to identify with that.

That’s a good question.

I know that Christine did meet with Palin’s people but the primary is Sept. 14 and I must suppose that if O’Donnell were to get Palin’s endorsement she’d have it by now.

However, I would remind that we have another very, very conservative candidate here in Delaware, Glen Urquhart. He too was hoping for a Palin endorsement.

I don’t know how or why Palin hands out endorsements but she evidenly does not want to be involved with Delaware politics.

O’Donnell has received an endorsement by the Tea Party Express, the national group headed by Dick Army, and also Glen Beck’s group...The 9-12 Patriots. Urquhart too I think.

So who knows but it does seem that Palin hands out endorsements sparingly. She endorsed the Maryland Governor’s primary Repub opponent...running against Bob Ehrlich. Ehrlich is about as conservative as they come and her endorsement of his opposition was very surprising.

It's pretty risky for her. She might come out this week but my guess is she's going to sit this one out.

Mike Castle was one of only two Repubs in the House who voted FOR Cap and Trade, may I remind? The other was the Vietnameseguy from New Orleans.

So why wouldn’t Reid expect Mike Castle to help push through Cap and Trade in the Senate in that Castle is currently running to be Delaware’s Senator?

AND Mike Castle gets seated the day after election, NOT in January, as this election is to replace Joe Biden. So Castle will be on hand to help push through the Dem lame duck agenda.

It could boil down to O’Donnell’s shaky financial situation to why Palin will not endorse her.

Palin does her due diligence however. She may be waiting till after Labor Day to make a bigger splash.

and also Glen Beck’s group...The 9-12 Patriots

Glenn Beck has no "group" and goes to great lengths to NOT endorse candidates... sadly in some cases.

“So why doesn’t Palin back Christine?”

Not sure. My guess would be that Palin knows it’s close, and she wants to play it safe, especially in a Northern state that generally leans blue. It was one thing to endorse Fiorina in liberal CA over her conservative opponent, but Palin may view endorsing O’Donnell as hurting her more than helping.

Worth a try :-)

Shoot, POTUS himself must be pretty lonely with all the Dems deserting him. Maybe *he* would be interested in campaigning with Castle.

MAkes no difference — he has the delaware vote now, and I doubt he’s publicly talking about a vote from a guy not elected yet. He might be planning on it, but he wouldn’t publicly assume he’s going to lose the Delaware seat to the republicans.

Don’t let hatred of Castle get us distracted from the fact that Reid thinks he’s got two CURRENT Republican senators who will vote Cap and Trade. We need to find those two and stop them.

Well let me stand corrected.

I thought he formed the 9-12 patriots.

I DO understand that Beck does not actively get involved in such as groups but he did, well maybe “inspire” the formation of this group.

Anyway, at least the Delaware chapter has endorsed Christine, and Urquhart as well.

For what this is worth.
