Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson apparently asked the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation to send scholarship funds directly to her grandsons and great-nephews, rather than to their colleges, according to letters released today by her GOP challenger.
It is unclear whether such a request is, by itself, improper under the foundation's rules.

No way anyone who is part of the Black Caucus or the Progressive caucus will resign.
Prediction: She will be re-elected in a landslide.

They must be dragged from office in handcuffs before they resign. It’s whitey’s fault, doncha know...

But it sure shoots holes into her argument that she knew nothing about the process by which her family got the scholarships.
A black congresswoman from a gerrymandered black district? This won’t hurt her a bit.
Her supporters will just say, “Good for her, helping black kids go to college!”
Anyone hear about “Cold Cash Jefferson” lately in the pokey? How about Conyers’ wife?
Prediction: She will be re-elected in a landslide.
I don't know about that. Rev Broden came out swinging against her and has not let up.

His opening salvo was "Her standard tactic, the race card, won't work against me". He is has been a pastor serving the people of her district - he knows them and they know him. He is hammering her on this issue, too.
I would think that paperwork had to be filled out in order to apply for the scholarship. Didn’t it say on the application that family members are exempt?
Translation from MSMSpeak regarding liberal actions - She got caught with her hand in the cookie jar, and as of now we have not figured out to blame this on (choose one or more) Bush/SUV's/Corporate greed/Angry White Males/Poverty/Racism/Pollution/etc.
The application requires the applicant to state that he/she is not a family member. So you have a whole family issue here. There’s good coverage, and a lovely clip of EBJ trying to explain everything away here:

The real name of the CBC is the Corrupt Black Caucus. I would be very surprised if this whole enterprise is not founded upon corruption. Only a little leaks out every once in a while.
Let me guess
those EBJ friends and relatives were at TCU on affirmative action tuition-free scholarships, which is why she wanted the checks made out directly to them
I doubt the money was used for college if it went directly to the relatives
Corruption is a human right doncha know
