Unrelated, but I laugh to myself every time I hear or see the phrase, “profile in courage”, especially considering that the man it’s attributed to was a drug-addict and serial philanderer. Yep, what “courage” there.

At the rate he’s going he could lose New York in 2012. How sweet would that be?

Does a shout out in support of his brothers to build a mosque, but skips the American ceremony. Typical.

Clearly, when he gave his build-the-mosque speech (from the WH) Ohaha's articulated words and his voice inflections, were archly crafted. Ohaha knew full well that he was throwing a megaton bomb into the American culture......and he was not in the least concerned.

Ohaha knows full well that building the Ground Zero mosque is another version of "Triumphalism".....brough to you from another group of hyphenates bent on mischief. Latinos are itching for Reconquista. The mosquevites are looking to impose Sharia law on the US.

All of us are sick and tired of these foreign-born "hyphenates" sticking it to Americans. Americans know all the world wants to live like we do---even our poorest live handsomely compared to some of these backwater Third World hellholes. Now instead of blending into the US melting pot, the hyphenates want to radically change our culture---they want us to be like them.

That ain't gonna happen.

Think what you will about JFK, but as he authored “Profiles in Courage,” it was his fellow soldiers he wrote about who were courageous. He was not writing about himself.

President Obama will mark 9/11 at the Pentagon, as he did last year, rather than risk facing angry demonstrators at Ground Zero, where his convoluted remarks and walk back on the Ground Zero mosque might subject him to criticism "like a dog."

Is not the phrase "like a dog" more likely to be uttered by a Muslim, or am I wrong about that? Muslims do not like dogs.

In today's pampered pet culture being treated like a dog is not bad; just consider dog motels with air conditioning and pools, pampered kennels, dog burial grounds, dog toys, etc.

criticism "like a dog"

Barry is really going to regret that "dog" ad lib. He gets in trouble every time he goes off teleprompter.

He’s going to the Pentagon instead, isn’t he? Maybe he’ll toss a rose on the site.

I am glad he is not going. It would be an insult, a slap in the face of America. He would have been booed by the New York crowds.

He knows that at the Pentagon the crowd will be made up of restrained military personnel that won't boo.

“Think what you will about JFK, but as he authored “Profiles in Courage,”

Profiles in Courage was ghost-written by Arthur Schlesinger.
http://www.straightdope.com/columns/read/2478/did-john-f-kennedy-really-write-profiles-in-courage

Of course, that didn’t stop JFK from accepting a Pulitzer Prize for it.

“it was his fellow soldiers he wrote about who were courageous. He was not writing about himself.”

The latter statement is undeniably true. But he wasn’t writing about his fellow soldiers either. He was writing about people who exhibited courage in politics—most Senators.

Would that we’d seen some of that same courage when the Senate deliberated on Clinton’s impeachment or when Blue Dog Senators were being asked to vote against the clear interests and desires of their constituents in the final vote on the health care bill.

The men being praised in Profiles in Courage were 8 US Senators who took courageous stands. It has been alleged that the book was ghostwritten--see the Wikipedia article on Profiles in Courage (which basically concludes that Ted Sorenson did much or most of the writing).

Not to mention the book was ghost written.

The one aspect of the Kennedy family that I do think reflects decently on them, is the service of Joe and John Kennedy in WWII.

Joe was KIA and John was WIA. One could argue that John wasn’t much of a PT boat commander, if his boat got cut in half by a larger ship in the middle of the night. If there was no moon, I think that might be a bit harsh.

Yes, the old man was tied to the mob, made his money from running illegal booze, and tinkered with elections to advance his son’s political aspirations. I think the mob was involved in John’s election to be president too.

John was on major narcotics as he served as president. He was a philanderer and even toyed around with mob molls and at least one Iron Curtain spy.

His time in the service may or may not have reached the level of a profile in courage. The pain he endured while he served as president may or may not have reached the level of a profile in courage.

There was certainly a dark side to him. I don’t think the guy should have been president.

That said, the Democrat party in Kennedy’s day was nothing like the Democrat party of today. He supported the military, pushed through tax cuts, and opposed the Communists with a passion.

He was severely flawed as a man, and I think even contributed to the mindset of a young Bill Clinton, and what he would grow up to be in time.

So was he to be taken to task? I think so, on a number of grounds, but this lout we have in there now makes Kennedy look like a founding father by comparison. Of course that’s not the level of guy Kennedy was, but he certainly had more on the ball than Obama.

Hell, most fifth graders have more on the ball than Obama.

At the Pentagon, Zero and his minions can control the make-up of the crowd. There will be cherry-picked Obama uber-lovers, all ready to act enraptured as Zero ladles it on.

At Ground Zero, Pam Geller and company would be waiting for him.
