As part of the deep cuts announced this week at ABC News, the network plans to close all of its physical bureaus around the country except Washington and halve the number of its domestic correspondents.

ABC News President David Westin confirmed in an interview Friday that the network's ranks of bureau correspondents, which currently number several dozen, would be cut in half and be replaced with "digital" journalists who would be expected to shoot and edit their own stories.

Why stop at just one half?

They don’t do any reporting to begin with.

They just regurgitate the talking points that are handed down from the Regime, anyway.

abc”News”. What a joke.

ABC pushes anti-business Obama down our throats.

Obama destroys business.

ABC fires much of its staff.

JUSTICE IS SERVED!

Yes, indeed! This is the network that features some of its programming coming from the White House, IIRC.

How sweet it is!

Survivorman could teach them how to shoot and edit their own stories.

“How ironic is it that the ONLY bureau THEY think worth keeping is INSIDE THE BELTWAY.”

Actually it’s not ironic, it’s a sign of the times. After all, ALL the IMPORTANT news is from Washington these days anyhow right? And we certainly don’t need “fact checkers” since anything coming from the 0 regime is by definition blessed truth...right?

ABCCBSCNNNBC is in a lot of trouble really, for obvious reasons. #1 being that very few people think they have anything to do with “objectivity”.

Westin is responsible for all those job cuts. He recommended them. There’s clearly another reason why he left. I think he just had too many disagreements with the suits in the higher offices.

They just make up the news anyway. They don’t really need reporters.

I said it yesterday, if ABC could think with their heads instead of their tingly parts, they would create an alliance with Fox News, which has everything to cover global news, and co-opt the “fair and balanced” approach to hard news. Gee, balanced reporting, what a concept...

sounds like they are going to rely on Libtards shooting and uploading their own stories to an ABC News channel on YouTube?

"Westin is responsible for all those job cuts. He recommended them. There’s clearly another reason why he left. "

Yes, that's clearly right. BUT, I'm sure Westin was given a number he had to meet, a reduction in expenses from the previous annual period. This is the formula he came up with. But, I suspect he didn't want to reduce anything, which was the cause of the friction.
