A protest in Los Angeles over a deadly police shooting of an immigrant turned into a clash between the cops and demonstrators Monday.
Police donned riot gear to clear an area near MacArthur Park around 10 p.m. as angry protesters began throwing bottles and setting trash cans on fire.
Only a couple of people were arrested, police said.
The clash was sparked by an incident on Sunday afternoon, when bicycle cops were alerted to a man allegedly waving a knife at pedestrians. When they arrived, offices ordered the man to drop the blade. When he refused, he was shot dead.
"He came after the officers with a knife raised in the air, leading one of the officers to fire at the suspect," LAPD Lt. Andrew Neiman told The Associated Press.

The suspect was drunk, threatening passersby with a knife and these same people who are rioting are the ones who called in the cops.

I wish ICE would send some of their big well marked busses and circle that neighborhood for everybody to see.

“He could not speak English, so he could not understand what the officer was saying,” she said, “and after that the officer proceeded in shooting him twice in the head.”
Um...Kelly? When an officer has a gun pointed at you, I think it’s a pretty universal concept that you don’t raise your knife and make an aggressive move towards him.
I think he understood right after that.
There are lots of ways to take a person down without killing them.Cops are on a killing spree all over the nation if you ask me.

Universal language 101 ... man points gun, you drop weapon ... especially if it is just a knife.

I hold their concern for the drunken knife wielder suspect. They’re probably looking for an excuse to go looting. We’re about due for one of those.
Los Angeles Police Protective League reaction to protest
Various community “activists,” including the Revolutionary Communist Party, are attempting to gin this shooting up into a controversy, agitating a small handful of others to conduct “protests” of this shooting. The pathetic attempt to excuse the armed advance on the responding officers by claiming the man “did not speak English” only highlights the inanity of the “protest.” For the record, the officers gave him commands in English and Spanish, not that it matters because getting drunk and threatening bystanders and then LAPD officers with a knife is dangerous and self-destructive in any language.
When you advance toward an armed cop with a weapon in your hand you cease to be a human being. You are a threat to be eliminated. At least he went out like a bad*ss. Songs will be sung celebrating his machismo, girls will shed tears over his likeness, toasts will be raised in his honor. Simone!

I would suggest that this “immigrant” never learned that one does not bring a knife to a gunfight - especially with the cops!

I doubt anyone in that neighborhood is here legally.
