Pope Benedict XVI quoted a Byzantine emperor at Regensburg. Those were not his words.

every religion has the right to expect that its sacred books, places of worship and symbols will be respected and protected.

Islam is not a religion. It is a criminal gang, that uses the illusion of being a religion, which initiates force against the innocent and violates their natural rights for the ultimate end of world domination. Therefore they have forfeited their right to be treated equally to other genuine religions and have forfeited their right to freedom of religion.

Are you a soldier in the field of battle? Have you served in Iraq or Afghanistan?

Just curious as to where your 'bravery' comes from.

Not exactly, as it wasn't the Pope who said that but a bureaucratic council at the Vatican. In fact, the Pope himself recently reminded Catholics in Asia to bear "witness to Jesus Christ, the universal Savior of mankind. This is the supreme service and the greatest gift that the Church can offer to the people of Asia."

He is free to burn the Koran. And we have the right to criticize the same "pastor" for supporting this:

The Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue has no special authority to speak for “the Vatican.”

Why then doesn't the Vatican come out LOUDLY and say so?

"In his weekly general audience in late May of 1999, Pope John Paul II addressed Muslims in a series discussing "interreligious dialog." He quotes from the 1994 Catechism of the Catholic Church n. 841 which states, "... together with us they (Muslims) adore the one, merciful, God." In the Pope's mind, Allah and YAHWEH are one and the same God??

“Who the hell cares if it inflames muslims?”

Maybe the Americans and Christians in muslim countries that will suffer for this pastors lack of wisdom.

I agree that they have every right to burn any book they want to burn, but the problem is that the sound-bite this gives the press is exactly the one that has been waiting and hoping to get: Christians “attacking” Islam.

Granted, it’s perfectly justified, the Koran is evil and deserves to be wiped out of human consciousness, and nobody is advocating killing anyone, much less flying planes into buildings occupied by thousands of harmless civilians. But mark my words, this stupid act by this “pastor” is probably going to end up with having our right to speak out suppressed and gaining oceans of favorable publicity for Muslims.

Sometimes, even when you’re in the right, you should think twice.

“I spent a good amount of time in Dubai, Kuwait and Bahrain and attend several churches, which incidentally were first built in the 70s.”

As I understand they can’t build a church it has to be an existing building used for services.

I also posted right after that... he (Gen. Pet.)is overstating the case to try to avoid the gruesome outcome that may be the Islam way

It is a murky logic that can't be worked out. To stop any burning of the book does not and will not end the hate and violence that is Islam, only halt what might be brought on in this moment in time. The other side of the coin is it will no doubt give Islam strength stemming from our cowardace that folds under pressure rather to fight protect what freedoms they want to take away from us. We become the paper tiger they think they will defeat bit by bit

Actually, I believe it to be an accurate assessment of a grossly irresponsible action on the part of people who don't seem to have too many moral principles.

(They support Fred Phelps and the Westboro Baptist Church, in case you missed that).

Problem is, muslims take this as an endorsement by the Pope that Islam is the true religion.

Seriously.

I don’t believe anyone here is telling you that you don’t have the right to criticize him.

I believe the Pastor has the right to burn the Koran.
I also believe that Westboro has the right to protest military funerals.
It may be distasteful to most Americas.....but I believe they have that right.

So do the courts.

The Constitution is not about protecting just what you think is right.

However,I don’t see Obama and these various people saying that the Pastor has the rights just like the Muslims have the rights.

Like the Vatican he is overstating the case to try to avoid the gruesome outcome that may be the Islam way

They are doing it in response to FEAR and INTIMIDATION. They are appeasing the enemy - and that shows weakness.

I’m not catholic. BECAUSE of that, I’m already an enemy of the “church”. Call me what you will. I don’t give a fig.
The pastor buring the Ko Ran is not catholic. I doubt he cares either.

Burn baby, burn!
