There was also a successful landing on Mission Beach, San Diego last night. The operator and occupants escaped. There must be a pretty good success rate, otherwise they would stop coming by boat. We live 300 yards from the beach and have a wide view of the ocean. The USCG and DHS rarely have any patrol craft out there when the sunsets or rises. Usually, the boats are reported by civilians on the beach and the police and DHS race to intercept them on land. At least one landing a week is intercepted or observed in San Diego. I wonder what happens to the boats. My guess is that they are returned to Mexico, because the owner reports them stolen. The boats probably cost $30k with hull and motor, so they wouldn't sacrifice many boats.

I was thinking also that, when boats sail in international waters, they are required to fly the flag of the nation of origin. I wonder whether these boat people boats are sporting a flag of any kind. And I think it is a matter of concern if USCG is not patrolling and on the alert for interloper boats filled with illegals. Who is your congressman?
