Less a hero than a victim that many have empathy for. A shotgun that is sawed off a bit shorter than the law says is o.k. is hardly justification for killing a young boy and his mother.
I agree some of the agents should have gone to jail for breaking the law, but I also think he should be in jail or at least served a prison term.
I find it funny you think all citizens break the law like he did. I dont. I wouldnt refuse to appear in court. I wouldnt saw off shotguns for anybody period. I wouldnt refuse to pay taxes owed. I would however protest too high taxes and vote to change the law. Breaking the law is breaking the law....period.
Remember shots had already been fired by the boy if I recall. Things had escalated way out of control. I would never have put my family in that sort of situation.

I have researched this several times over the years. One can no more trust the accounts of Weaver and his followers than Lon Horuchi IMO. They are all over the place. I do know this, both parties were at fault in allot of ways. Vickie was a nut, just like Weaver, just like Gritz and a bunch more involved in this. She didnt deserve to die, but she sure deserved prison if she had lived. If not for reckless endangerment of her children.

Surely you dont think the LEOs shot his wife on purpose? If I recall it hit her and Harris. I admit I find that extremely unprofessional of any sniper unless they couldnt see her behind him at the door. But she could have taken her kids and left at any time. One white flag would stopped it all.

She was in a dangerous standoff with her baby and son with her and chose to ride it out thereby endangering them both. JMO

I won't admit any responsibility on his part for illegal and immoral actions taken by government agents. That would be idiotic. Cause and effect, ie personal responsibility for one's actions, doesn't work that way.
