Sarah Palin: Quran burning insensitive and un-American
CNN ^ | 9/9/10 | Steve Prothero

Posted on 09/09/2010 11:39:42 AM PDT by pissant

Yesterday, I called on Christian politicians who had opposed, on the grounds of “sensitivity,” the Islamic community center in Lower Manhattan to denounce the insensitivity of the pastor provocateur Terry Jones, who is planning to burn Qurans at his Gainesville, Florida, church on September 11. I also called out Sarah Palin and Newt Gingrich by name.

Today, Sarah Palin, at least, weighed in.

On Twitter, she wrote, “Koran Burning Is Insensitive, Unnecessary; Pastor Jones, Please Stand Down.”

On Facebook, she spelled out her position in more detail:

Book burning is antithetical to American ideals. People have a constitutional right to burn a Koran if they want to, but doing so is insensitive and an unnecessary provocation

Quran burning insensitive and un-American..

Nope... it’s an in your face response to Islamic Extremism which is totally what America used to be vice this politically correct, sensitive POS we’ve become.

“Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of Elderberries”

“I fart in your general direction”

” I wave my private parts at you.. you son of a windowdresser!”

No matter how short an article, you have to excerpt it. If she’s equating this to the GZM, then she’s even dumber than I though.

It was also crude and insensitive what General Anthony McAuliffe replied to the German commander’s demand for surrender at Bastogne.

Nowadays McAuliffe would probably be fired for his lack of sensitivity.

Palin is wrong on this one.

Actually, maybe not.

From this point on, EVERY Muslim hate-act can be compared to this position..."I said I didn't agree with the book-burning and in the same way I don't agree with Muslim hate-acts."

It can be used every time a Muslim crowd goes on a violent hate-America tirade to point out THEIR duplicity. The Koran-burning episode can be used to clearly point out Muslim hypocrisy from this time forward.

Just for clarification,
since you’re stating that the Koran burning is not equivalent to the GZM,

which are you saying is a greater provocation?

I’ll admit it.... I just tuned into this thread for fun, and maybe to see if any heads explode.

A couple of poppers, but mostly typical responses from freepers you normally would have seen in the pre-PalinCult days.

I agree with Palin. This is petty and helps nothing. It is a publicity stunt.

However, I would strongly defend their right to burn any book they please, even when doing so offends my religion.

Freedom of expression trumps poor judgement...

Burning the koran isnt going to drive the point of the evils of islam home. Cartoons of mohammed and a pig would be better...
Im betting this pastor is a whacko and doesnt know 10% of islam. Average FReeper has more info than this guy will ever have.

He has his goofy followers, the huckster type crowd and the hate Mormons, other than that he wont do much for the fight.

Q: What do you call the Muslim who was caught with his hand up a camel’s azz?.
A: The mechanic.

Insensitive....yes. But if one is to live in the free country we call the United States, one will have to adapt to the fact that “certain” free speech may offend you at some point.

Palin: “...People have a constitutional right to burn a Koran if they want to, but doing so is insensitive and an unnecessary provocation – much like building a mosque at Ground Zero...”

Lots of people have made this comparison to the middle finger mosque but Sarah is the highest profile public figure to make it.

Sarah’s quote above is perfection.

I kinda figured you’d be too cowardly to actually answer that.
