Los Angeles - A new LAUSD school dedicated to environmental studies is set to open in Los Angeles on Monday, despite concerns about environmental safety. The Carson-Gore Academy of Environmental Sciences is a state of the art school that took five years and 75 million dollars to make.
The elementary school was named in honor of biologist Rachel Carson and former vice president turned environmentalist Al Gore, but public health advocates say Carson-Gore is an environmental mistake.
Jane Williams, California Communities Against Toxics (CCAT):
"This school site is horribly contaminated ... there is an operating oil well on one side of the school, an active gas station with leaking gas tanks on the other side and in front of the school is a gas pipe line."
The school district acknowledges there was contamination on the Washington Blvd property, but in an urban setting like Los Angeles, they say, building on a so-called dirty site is common and the problems have been fixed.

Oh, the irony...
That’s ok. The Gore family tree was planted on toxic soil!
AlGore is a Toxic person as well.
Everything associated with Gore is toxic.
So is Al Gore’s Reputation via “Inconvieniant Truth” about “Global Warming”.
Perfect.
Maybe that’s why he always wanted to clean up the planet instead of himself.
Is that what psychologists call “transference?”
It is also located 6 blocks from a massage school
The lot is better than the education being delivered to students inside of the building.
Is this akin to heading for the kitchen to build a cake?
Hell, back in the day we would have tapped those suckers and
filled up the trucks and sold the rest to future blogpimps.
Just sayin'...
At premium prices, of course.
Oil well...gas tanks...hmmmm...greased palms....
Fluid management wasn't offered as an accredited class.
Call it extracurricular activity on a work-study basis.
I'm just theorizing, of course..
And I like that approach. I've heard about people who never learned to loop the hoes... (intentional misspelling and misdirection in case I have to invoke the plausible deniability clause)
It was done deliberately in the hopes that the parasitical carbon-spewing children would die from cancer. This would lesson the burden on dear mother Earth...
