New York Times Will End Print Edition (Eventually), Publisher Says
The Atlantic ^ | 09/09/2010 | Kevin Fallon

While speaking at a conference in London, chairman and publisher of The New York Times Arthur Sulzberger, Jr. made a major statement about the future of his publication: "We will stop printing The New York Times sometime in the future, date TBD."

He was there to talk about the changing journalistic business model and to touch on the Times' upcoming metered paywall for online content, but it was his concession about the bleak outlook for the print edition of the paper that's become the major news. Henry Blodgett, CEO of Business Insider, predicts the repercussions of suspending the printed version of the Times would have on the operation of the world's largest newsroom:

They could use some help from newspaper people who have already managed to make the conversion successfully. The Weekly World News, for example. Ever notice that you never see Pinch and Batboy together?

No loss — my dog has refused to poop on that filthy rag for some time — he hates commies.

The NYT turns out to be the paper of record. Unfortunately the record was a 45 RPM in an MP3 world. Hey Pinch your time is past. Now get off the stage

NYT will join the Christian Science Monitor as a non-published nothing.

All they do is reprint most of their articles from the AP that I already read the night before on-line.

Local papers need to start focusing on LOCAL news, forget national news, leave that to the Internet. WRITE original articles about local events and figures and people locally will buy your paper, this isn't rocket science.

Ahahahahahahahaaa!

Despite the praise it garnered through the years from leftists, the New York Times was never a good newspaper after Adolph Ochs (and his descendants) acquired control.

The original publisher, Henry Raymond, ran it as conservative paper with high journalistic standards.

Ochs, Dryfoos and the Sulzbergers were and are liberals who manufacture news to suit their anti-American strategy.

What are all the young sophisticates going to do on Sunday morning in NYC? Currently (according to the movies and contemporary literature) they lounge around their apartments and work the crossword puzzle while sipping their lattes.

They may have to start going to church for entertainment!

There is a very nice hotel my Wife and I frequent in Seattle. At check in the front desk staff asks: ‘Would you prefer the NYT or the Seattle PI in the morning?”

My reply: “The NYT is not a newspaper - it's a comic book.”

Praise for the hotel, now when we check in, they say: “And we'll have a Seattle paper for you in the morning.”

I never pass up the opportunity to call the NYT ‘comics.’
