Im sorry I feel sick about this whole thing. This was a non story. It took onebig doofus, and the media went beserk over it. What was the goal? Does everyone feel better. I actually feel worse and think we look weak and ridiculous. We are a laughing stock to the world.

What was the goal?

To condition us into accepting government control of free speech... at least when the speech is against Islam. Just another step in the Islamification of America.

This non-story reminds me very much of the balloon boy fiasco.

We can expect more of this from the idiots in the cablenews business. Namely Wolf Blitzer and Anderson Cooper.

My wife and I just said pretty much the same things over dinner tonight. Our country is in the hands of politically correct cowards.

Chalk one up for Islam. Self-censorship under a threat of violence undermines our 1st amendment rights. The idea that the Secretary of Defense would call a private citizen to persuade him not to exercise his right of free speech is abhorrent. The Secretary of State, the Attorney General, and the WH Press Secretary weighed in before Obama did today.

We can burn bibles, American flags, put Christ in urine at taxpayers expense, but no public official gets involved. The most insidious threat to free expression is self-censorship. When the Danish cartoons resulted in attacks on Danish embassies around the globe, only two US newspapers were brave enough to publish any of the cartoons to show Americans what the fuss was about. And the NYT and WP weren't one of them.

Our present government IS a laughing stock and the US looks weak and ridiculous...expect more shenanigans until we show some fortitude again.
