There is (of course) no point whatever in appeasing these people. Sayyid Qutb, the father of modern Islamic fundamentalism, famously became scandalized with the evils of America when he attended a church social, and witnessed people dancing (innocuously enough) to "Baby it's cold outside".

Never mind the horror of us burning Korans, drawing cartoons or - in your example - criticizing Islam on FR. Simply the fact that we are not crazy-ass fundamentalists and we sometimes like to dance is all the excuse that Islam needs to kill and maim.
