He injured his throwing shoulder and they thought he was toast. Miami ran him through 6 hours of tests before they would talk to him. New Orleans simply asked him, “What would it take to get you to join us?”
There are reasons he is fiercely loyal to the people of New Orleans aside from how fiercely they protect his privacy. He has been a large part of the efforts that have gotten most of New Orleans (outside the 9th Ward) working again. Oddly, none of that involved the government. It is not the people who made New Orleans great who are whining and complaining. That is reserved for the leeches, the media, and the government - if you can tell them apart.
