Health care politics run into economic reality
MSNBC ^ | 9/10/2010 | CALVIN WOODWARD, ERICA WERNER/AP

President Barack Obama told voters repeatedly during the health care debate that the overhaul legislation would bring down fast-rising health care costs and save them money. Now, he's hemming and hawing on that.

So far, the law he signed earlier this year hasn't had the desired effect. An analysis from Medicare's Office of the Actuary this week said that the nation's health care tab will go up — not down — through 2019 as a result of Obama's sweeping law, though the increase is modest.

Obama offered some caveats when asked in his news conference Friday about the apparent discrepancy between what he promised and what's actually happening so far. On several other topics, too, his rhetoric fell short of a full accounting.

Don’t you just love it?

“Hasn’t had the desired effects”

Do any of their plans and programs ever ever ever have the desired effects?

To anyone with half a brain, you could easily see that all of crazy Obama’s crazy plans only spend more money and costs to tax payers and the payouts only increase.

How the hell could a plan that brings in 35 million poor people with no health insurance possibly send costs down? Ridiculous. And foolish too.

Obama knowingly lied. Period.

Forgive him not, he knows exactly what he is doing.

Oh well, the American people wanted “change” so they threw out dozens of those evil Republicans who made everyone’s life a living hell!

OK enough sarcasm. But seriously, even McCain tried to warn voters about the radicalism 0bama and a Demo Congress would bring but nobody wanted to hear it. Now we must all live with the consequences.

McCain didn’t go far enough and no matter what he said no one wanted to listen anyway. But I remember some instances either in the debates or at rallies where he said 0bama’s plan was too extreme, he would appoint far left wing judges etc.

McCain told us that we would have nothing to fear from an Obama administration. What an ignorant fool.

Which campaign was that?

If you are referring to the 2008 campaign, my recollection is McPain did his best to put the kibosh on any attempts to explain to the voters what Hussein was really about. Wouldn't have been collegial, you know. McCain was one tired old man!

It's interesting that even MSNBC must occasionally delve into factual information, presumably to preserve a thread of credibility.
