For Immediate Release August 25, 2010 President Obama to Deliver Back to School Speech September 14 WASHINGTON, D.C. – As students begin their school year, President Barack Obama will deliver his second annual Back-to-School Speech at 1:00 p.m. EDT on Tuesday, September 14 at Julia R. Masterman Laboratory and Demonstration School in Philadelphia, PA, a 2010 National Blue Ribbon School. The President’s Back-to-School Speech is an opportunity to speak directly to students across the country. Last year, President Obama encouraged students to study hard, stay in school, and take responsibility for their education.

Pity. It’s parent-teacher conference day and the kids get out at noon on that day.
Fortunately my kids have early release from prison...I mean school, that day...and yes, the half day was already built into the school calendar for this year. :) And they already sent a form home allowing us parents to opt out our kids if a teacher decides to show a replay later. My husband signed that form right away!
I’m sure your kids deserve a day off. Seems like a good a day as any!
Now that Obummer has learned that communism doesn`t work in Cuba, he will announce to the children that he will promote himself from dictator to monarch, butterfly that is.
Does the man/child know when to STFU? Every day we get another worthless speech from Obama, much like when Clinton was in office. Doesn’t this idiot understand the premise that less means more?
He enjoys vacations, golf and giving speeches. Running the country, not so much.

However.....our kids go to a pretty conservative school. They were prompted to wear red, white, and blue today to commemorate 9/11. They were shown this documentary:

My HS age (he was a sophomore) begged me NOT to have him leave his clasroom (he is as THAT age). I grudgingly did not write an ‘opt out’ note...but, as many did, any ‘assignemnts on the Dear Leader speech were ‘optional’ so...later in that school day, during AP History, the assignement was given ‘what did you think of President ObamaKs speech?’. As it was NOT graded, he had a little fun.
He wrote ‘I didn’t really pay attention to President Obama...but I know Beyonce’s video was better.’
His teacher showed it to me later, during Open House and gave me a thumbs up.
I just signed a form telling them to not show it to my son, they will place them in another room during the address.
