My dad finds it funny that Germany and Russia decided to split Poland, and the entire world went to war to make sure that Russia got all of it.

But really, this guy should do his job. Attending a diplomatic dinner with a lesbian is not an endorsement of lesbianism. He needs to get over himself. This isn't about him.

Yes it. It is an official recognition. It's sad that so few people understand what standing up for principles are anymore.

Official recognition between his nation and hers.

It isn't like him, as a private citizen, going by her private residence and stopping in for dinner.

And even that? If your sister is a lesbian, she should be excommunicated or you are endorsing lesbianism if you stop in for dinner?

Did Jesus consider the sinner anathema and refuse to break bread with them, or was he famous for dwelling among tax collectors and prostitutes, and saying that they were more likely to go to Heaven than the men who called themselves holy, and try to redeem their soul?

Apples and oranges. This was an official dinner where the homosexuals would be introduced as "mates". This man would not accept that as they are NOT "mates".

Did Jesus consider the sinner anathema and refuse to break bread with them,

Jesus broke bread with sinners and told them "Don't". Are you suggesting this man should have preached a sermon at a state dinner?

How I wish there were those in this country that had the courage to do the same as Jenis av Rana. Defending moral convictions should be an everyday occurrence and not an unusual one. Instead it is a rarity.

He preached a sermon about not attending it.

He made a statement on his principles. And he wasn’t the only one. If more people stood up and stated that homosexual “marriage” is not acceptable, we wouldn’t be fighting an agenda. But most are cowards who don’t want to be labeled as mean. Which is right out of the homosexual propaganda manual, After the Ball.

Defend homosexuality all you like, these men made a principled stand not to “honor” sexual deviancy and mental illness.

He made a statement as an individual when in a different nation with different customs and laws, when sent there as a diplomat FOR his nation.

Duty is sometimes harder than grandstanding.

If he were invited to this dinner as an individual, I would support him in taking his stand and saying his thing.

He was not.

This is just childish grandstanding. A state dinner is a matter of protocol and diplomacy, not morality.

For someone who presumes to lecture others on matters of protocol and diplomacy you demonstrate incredible ignorance. It was a state dinner. The diplomatic obligations rest with the respective heads of state, in this case the Prime Minister of Denmark and the Prime Minister of Iceland. They are the ones required to subordinate their personal or political ideologies in order to conduct state business.

Mr. av Rana is not the head of state of Denmark. He is merely a leader of one of their political parties. If he and his party disagree with the persona or policies of the visiting leader of another country it is entirely proper for them to refuse to attend a function honoring that person.

“Good for ya, bud!!”

Amen to that!

I will not vote for the GOP candidate for governor Charlie Baker (Mass) because his very first act was to pick a gay running mate.

It was goodbye right then & there.

???????????

From the article: when he refused to dine with Iceland Prime Minister Jóhanna Sigurdardóttir and her lesbian partner during a state visit to his country.

Duty is sometimes harder than grandstanding.

Standing up for principles is harder than going along to get along. People without moral convictions will decry one's stand.

If he were invited to this dinner as an individual, I would support him in taking his stand and saying his thing.

He was invited to a state dinner in his country to "honor" someone that suffers from a mental illness and their "mate". He chose not to "honor" them.

Nonsense. She was visiting his nation. The Faroe Islands are part of Denmark. He was in his own country.

My mistake. I thought he was over there, not that she was where he was.

I thought he was over there, not that she was where he was.

That explains it. And he isn't a diplomat but a member of parliament and head of a Christian political party.

Bea Arthur, that’s a man, baby. It’s up to this guy if he doesn’t want to dine with these two lesbians but sometimes you just have to have a sense of humor about things and go with the flow. Gays can be very funny, I mean, look at Ellen and how she always dresses like a man, now that’s funny. When Rachel Maddow was in Iraq a gay guy sat in for her on her show and she’s like a man but he was like a woman, this stuff is hilarious. And they call Rush an entertainer but some of these gays are the real entertainers.

I am in agreement with you. I think that a representative such as an elected Prime Minister should be met with in official meetings. However I think it's also the obligation of the visiting Prime Minister to respect customs of the host country. If she knows that a lesbian "wife" offends the sensibilities of the host country's religion, it's leader and it's people, then why bring her to a state dinner.

Bringing a pet dog on a trip to Saudi Arabia, or some other breech in etiquette is the obligation of both the host and the gracious visitor.

I agree that you have to meet Stalin, since he was the leader of a country.
