Not to be argumentative, please believe me. The Serbs and Muslims had fought bitterly as you know. There were atrocities on both sides. The propaganda war was absolutely won by the Muslims. I remember the news media reports about a massacre that the Serbs were accused of.
The media used that as the springboard for the Clinton regime to attack Serbia with NATO. I heard mainly female voices on the networks literally hissing the phrase "ethnic cleansing". The Serbs got a press worthy of the late Dr Goebels in one sided reporting. They never stood a chance.
A few voices from US veterans of WW2 were raised, but not quoted, except on the internet. They had been hidden by the Serbs when shot down over the Balkans. It was the Luftwaffe that had bombed Belgrade in 1940, next up NATO.
Blair went with the flow. I will agree with you if you believe this is no excuse. Anyway, the Serbs were in the majority in Kosovo in 1900. Today they are between five and seven percent. Ethnic cleansing anybody?
