Bam's 'sorry' mistake
NY Post ^ | September 12, 2010 | Michael Goodwin

Coming nine years into the world created by

9/11, his words are haunt ing. And timely.

"The problem is not simply the extremism. And I think one of the mistakes is in thinking that if you deal with the extremists, you deal with the problem."

Ideally, such words of wisdom would come from President Obama. But they didn't, because Obama remains stuck in the feel-good myth that the problem is limited to a "tiny minority" of Muslims distorting Islam and that America must prove it is worthy of trust.

We therefore turn to Tony Blair for the clear-eyed view that the problem is larger and more complicated. The former British prime minister, in a TV interview, laid out his realizations about global jihad. His conclusions are a must-read for anyone serious about understanding Public Enemy No. 1.

The false narrative fueling the terror movement, Blair told interviewer Charlie Rose last week, "is basically that Islam is under oppression from the West, that the West is hostile, and that by the leadership of Muslim countries being in alliance with the West, they are somehow complicit in a betrayal of the fundamentals of their religion."

Blair doesn’t get it either. Islamic hatred and violence is not based on a perversion of Islam, but is part of the very core and nature of Islam itself.

And yes, it’s true that the West isn’t at war with Islam; but if the West wants to survive, it should be.

It is starting to look like the minority perverting Islam is the peace loving ones.

Blair calls the "West's hostility to Islam" a myth, but nowhere does this article even mention the absolute and innate hatred of the West by the muslim world...and isn't that the real heart of the problem.

That such a point was omitted is glaring to the point of stupefaction.

And then there is this...

"What is producing this conflict is not something the West is doing," Blair said. "It is being produced by a religious view that is based, incidentally, on a perversion of Islam . . . that's got too big a reach. And we've got to counter that."
There's that old canard about the "perversion of islam" again. Blair may be sufficiently mired in the muslim world to believe that tripe, but Michael Goodwin knows better.

Islam is a bloody religion. If anyone has wandered away from its core, it is those muslims who believe it is peaceful.

So when the 10% or so (”tiny minority”) of 1,600,000,000 (i.e., 160,000,000) come at us with machetes, bombs and serrated knives wanting to kill us and our children we should just turn the other cheek? Let’s say there are 1,000,000 mooslims in America (God forbid). To be very conservative in our estimate, let’s say ONLY 1% are the “tiny minority” who want to murder you and your family. That would be 10,000 blood-soaked crazed mooslim morons wanting to blow your children to bloody shreds (about 200 per state). Add to that the statement by janet incompetano who said recently “we can’t guarantee” your safety in America against these 7th century, murderous creeps. Great. Now I feel safe and secure. At least, could the government up the amount for funerals paid by the Social Security Administration?

You turn the other cheek to a slap or insult. You defend your family and people when they are threatened ...

If the problem is limited to a “tiny minority” of Muslims, the why did Obama increase the number of troops in Afghanistan fighting that tiny minority.

Obama can talk, but nobody is listening. Let Obama’s incompetence be another reason for folks to vote in November.

Whether islam is being perverted or not is irrelevant.... and getting caught up in that argument is being stuck-on-stupid.

The only islam that should be allowed to exist at the end of this war is a peaceful one.....THAT is our purpose.

Bush started this “perversion of Islam” ruse in 2001 because he still had to run for reelection in 2004 and he had to stay politically correct. Now, it’s just a tiresome, obvious canard.

“Obama’s views are no less dangerous for being heartfelt. He panders to Muslims but is ignorant about the true nature of the jihad movement. He puts pressure on Israel to compromise its security while turning a blind eye to the culture of death that drenches Palestinian society. “

If you view the total of Obama’s speeches, apologies and bows, you must see that he holds the interests of Islam and Muslims as first and primary. Whether he is a Muslim is moot. He acts in the interests of our enemies and to the detriment of the American people. Whether his views are “heartfelt” are irrelevant. We must replace him with somebody who can be the advocate and leader of the west in the west’s struggle to survive against Islam.

Actually, the more heartfelt this views, the more dangerous Obama is to every American and by extension to America’s traditional allies. At least Bill I-didn’t-have-sexual-relations-with-that-woman Clinton was a whore and held nothing as heartfelt except his grip on power. Therefore Clinton would defend American if he was forced to by the polls.

“it was written in the Koran, that all Nations who should not have acknowledged their(Barbary/Muslim nations) authority were sinners, that it was their right and duty to make war upon whoever they could find and to make Slaves of all they could take as prisoners, and that every Mussulman(old time word for Muslim) who should be slain in battle was sure to go to Paradise.” Tripoli’s ambassador to London in March 1785 in a statement made to Thomas Jefferson and John Adams.(Hitchens, “Jefferson versus the Muslim Pirates, July 2010)

Unfortunately, this "false narrative" is one that almost every muslim can readily believe, and most probably do already, if they are aware of the world at all. Dinesh D'Souza recently wrote a commentary in Forbes about how 0bama thinks: in neocolonial terms.

www.forbes.com/forbes/2010/0927/politics-socialism-capitalism-private-enterprises-obama-business-problem_print.html

That's what Blair is describing here. And while right now, 1.5 billion muslims are content to let a few "radicals" do the heavy lifting, they would all fight if led and organized to do so. THAT would be when their religion gets hijacked. So far terrorists have hijacked numerous planes but no religion. Indeed, Blair is saying that muslims think WE have hijacked their religion.

What is lacking on the muslim side is the traditional organization of states, led by one or two very powerful ones, that could generate the events that result in real war. But they already have what it takes to fight a significant war: the numbers and the motivation and the holy cause -- and enough people who would willingly die fighting for it. Anyone who calls these people moderate is being plain dishonest. The Japanese people were moderate, too, while the militarists laid the groundwork and the religious authorities kept the flame burning.

At some point, the keepers of the flame light the fuse laid by the warriors. It won't happen with islam tomorrow, but if it did, muslims by the millions would rise up and burst out in violence.

Whereas we in the west...we have the technology, the materiel, but no flame in the heart. No religion to fight for, no patriotism, no holy cause. Not in anything like the numbers they have, to win a war, or even to discuss one. We are spiritually prostrate.

Right now, today, one and a half billion muslims already know what they would fight and die for. Meanwhile they're "moderate." That's a synonym for "not called up."

Indeed, and perhaps as high as 99%.
