Yeah, they have enough problems without drawing more attention to themselves with their anti 2nd Amendment BS.

5 - 4 rulings at our SC does not bode well for the future of our 2nd Amendment

Yes, good idea. They will come back to it after midterms when the populace can’t vote against them. A.K.A, lame-duck session.

Did enough of the RAT members realize this was potential ballot box poison and convince Leaky Leahy to postpone?

I have ben suspicious that this legislation was a Trojan horse planned for a lame duck session of Congress. House and Senate would pass different versions; then Dems would add new AWB plus other anti-2A goodies in conference so that it would nbe passed with simple majority vote!!

--here's what it was about. It originated with the Republican senator from Idaho--

Senate Judiciary Committee to Hold Hearing on S. 941 - the "Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Reform and Firearms Modernization Act" Friday, September 10, 2010 This Tuesday, September 14, the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee will hold a hearing on reforming current regulation of commerce in firearms -- especially in the area of dealer licensing and oversight -- by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE). The hearing will focus on S. 941, the "Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Reform and Firearms Modernization Act" sponsored by Senators Mike Crapo (R-ID) and Patrick Leahy (D-VT). Congressmen Steve King (R-IA) and Zack Space (D-OH) have introduced a companion bill -- H.R. 2296 -- in the U.S. House and it has 240 cosponsors. The bills would roll back unnecessary restrictions, correct errors, and codify longstanding congressional policies in the firearms arena. These bipartisan bills are a vital step to modernize and improve BATFE operations. Of highest importance, S. 941 and H.R. 2296 totally rewrite the system of administrative penalties for licensed dealers, manufacturers and importers of firearms. Currently, for most violations, BATFE can only give a federal firearms license (FFL) holder a warning, or revoke his license. S. 941 and H.R. 2296 would allow fines or license suspensions for less serious violations, while still allowing license revocation for the kind of serious violations that would block an investigation or put guns in the hands of criminals. This will help prevent the all-too-common situations where BATFE has revoked licenses for insignificant technical violations -- such as improper use of abbreviations or filing records in the wrong order. Among its other provisions, S. 941 and H.R. 2296 would:

Btw, this postponement is bad.

This legislation was an NRA-supported legislation:

Dan,

I’m more concerned that the dhimiwits will come back in lame duck and pass bradyII or an new AWB or worse, and fold it into whatever bs this committee is spewing since they won’t be back in power until the reptiles screw up worse.

Remember vis the GOP they held the house/senate/1600 for most of a decade and did zilch to reign/discipline/deep six the thugs at BATFECES.

At what point does an over-taxed and over-regulated people decide to ignore any “new” rules or regulations shoved down our collective throats.
With all of the smothering/stifling laws upon laws upon laws, do the power brokers understand the for-real trouble they will start if they come after the 2nd Amendment in any form?
How much more will they be allowed to plunder?
Not much, I hope.

Our second is ours to keep or lose.

the trick is to use the 2nd to protect itself...that is its power.

you are correct.

and

The smouldering pile of rules/regs and infringements will have to be item one on the list of a rehired GOP.
If we see more go along get along more red tape
all talk zero action the country will long regret that Congress did not uphold their oaths and do their duty.

the only ‘fix’ for this regulatory mess is eliminate all restrictions on firearms and put LEO conduct with regard to firearms rights under section 242.
If an LEO can’t fathom ‘keep means own, bear means carry’ they don’t need to be in law enforcement.

I should not have to point out Constitution, article 6 section 2 that says the Constitution is the FINAL word not a legislature (state or fed)

I fully expect that the Dems are going to go kamikaze and scorched earth in the lame duck session after their rejection at the polls.

Perhaps maybe even before.
