Purging Evil

Terry Jones, the Florida "minister" who threatened to burn the Koran on the anniversary of September 11, is as much a distraction from the real challenge facing America as was Senator Joseph McCarthy when it came to communism. Communism was (and remains in its Chinese incarnation) a real threat. But radical Islam -- rabid, advancing, intolerant, subjugating -- is potentially a bigger one and must be conquered.

Various apologists for the Nazis and communists in the media, academia and religion are now mostly forgotten and that's the problem. Forgetting what happens when evil is accommodated leads to terrible consequences and more evil.

Some ancient wisdom about what must be done with evil is helpful for those who would pay attention: "You must purge the evil from among you" (Deuteronomy 22:21). Instead, we are tolerating, even welcoming evil, under the false assumption that evil can be neutered when it is in the midst of good. If that were so, the good works performed by various cultures would have long ago eradicated evil. Evil must not only be purged, it must be defeated.

The former co-chairs of the 9/11 Commission, Democrat Lee Hamilton and Republican Thomas Kean, write of the "Americanization" of al-Qaida leadership, reports the Washington Post. In a 43-page study by the Bipartisan Policy Center in Washington, Hamilton and Kean warn of the radicalization of Muslims inside the United States and how al-Qaida's strategy is changing from big events, like airplane hijackings and attacks of mass destruction, to plotting for smaller actions designed to spread fear and instability across the country.

In this chilling sentence from the report is the challenge for those who deny the reality of what we face: "The U.S. is arguably not little different from Europe in terms of having a domestic terrorist problem involving immigrant and indigenous Muslims, as well as converts to Islam." The report says al-Qaida and its affiliates in Pakistan, Somalia and Yemen have minimally established an "embryonic" recruitment infrastructure in the United States. It points to convictions last year of at least 43 American citizens or residents aligned with radical ideology and high-profile cases of recruits who went abroad for training.

Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano seemed to confirm the findings in the report when she spoke last week to a group of first responders in New York: "The old view that 'if we fight the terrorists abroad, we won't have to fight them here' is just that -- the old view. It is abundantly clear that we have to fight them abroad; we have to fight them at home. We have to fight them, period."

We are doing a poor job of fighting the terrorists at home if we continue to allow Muslim immigrants, especially from Pakistan, Somalia and Yemen, into America. We won't win this war if we permit the uncontrolled construction of mosques, as well as Islamic schools, some of which already have sown the seeds from which future terrorists will be cultivated. We won't win this war if we continue to permit the large-scale conversion to Islam of prison inmates, many of whom become radicalized and upon release enlist in al-Qaida's army.

Even Syria understands the threat better than our own government. The New York Times reported on Sept. 3 that the Syrian government has asked imams for recordings of their Friday sermons and has begun closely monitoring what is taught in religious schools: "(Syria), which had sought to show solidarity with Islamist groups and allow religious figures a greater role in public life, has recently reversed course, moving forcefully to curb the influence of Muslim conservatives in its mosques, public universities and charities."

What does Syria know that we refuse to acknowledge out of fear of offending "sensibilities"?

We must purge the evil from among us, or else.

McCarthy was right -- that's why his enemies smeared him.

Jones is also right, in his own way. He has shown that Moslems seek to quench liberty through violence. He has shown that the media takes the Moslems' side. He has shown that even people on the US Supreme Court feel that the First Amendment should be secondary to the hurt feelings and violent tendencies of Moslems in other countries.

Jones turned the lights on. Now watch the cockroaches run.

There was nothing wrong with McCarthy and in fact he was more right on than he has been given credit for, Communist had in fact infiltrated all aspects of american society, I believe the current occupant in the White House is a direct result of that infiltration.

Thanks to Bill Clinton, US policy changed to encourage immigration from third world Islamic countries, and thanks to GWB, we welcomed thousands of Iraqi refugees into our midst. Many of them are now members of what could be designated the Future Terrorists of America Association.

First of all, Senator Joseph McCarthy (R-WI) was absolutely correct in his accusations of communist infiltration into the highest levels of government and the Verona papers proved it, albeit, long after the fact.

Today, 'militant' Islam is the greatest threat to America and just as they did 60 years ago, liberals are poo-pooing that threat and smearing those who try to sound the alarm. Fortunately, Americans are waking up to the threat of this foreign, totalitarian, barbaric set of laws and 'religious' strictures on individual freedom called Islam. The Ground Zero mosque 'controversy' is turning into a crucible that may, I hope, force us all to see Islamic insurgence for what it is, a determination by Muslims to conquer and dominate not only the west but the entire world with it's suffocating and murderous orthodoxy, which is the polar opposite of the Christianity the Pilgrims and later, the Founders of the United States of America relied on for spiritual direction and solace in times of struggle.

Islam must be exposed for what it really is and it's relentless advance into the west stopped, even as the liberals and other fools try to welcome and defend the very ideology that would murder them without a second thought in the name of 'Alla", their bloodthirsty god that supposedly delights in the murder of his creation, especially Jews. This sick, ridiculous 'religion' is the new communism and in my opinion, easily as dangerous. Communism was a murderous ideology. Islam is a murderous ideology that convinces it's adherents that God ('Alla') is smiling on them and will reward them for their atrocities. This cancer must not be allowed to grow on the body of our country and our culture and it's apologists must be defeated with the facts and reality, as the Ground Zero mosque controversy is doing. Thank God.

This sick, ridiculous ‘religion’ is the new communism and in my opinion, easily as dangerous. Communism was a murderous ideology. A powerful statement you have made.

I agree completely with your analogy of Islam being a “cancer” upon The West.

When cancer cells invade the body, what do we do about them?
Are we “accepting” of them?
Do we invite them in?
Do we take the “multicultural approach”, and welcome them with the belief that “all cells are equal”?
Do all cells - even cancer cells - have a “right to live amongst the other cells of our body”?

Of course not. Once cancer is recognized, we do everything possible to purge the body of ALL cancer cells within, with the goal of restoring the body to a “cancer free” state.

I will go further.

Suppose that some of the cancer cells are seen to be directly attacking our body tissues, while many others are not, in other words, seem dormant and not life-threatening.

Do we try to remove only “the bad cancer cells”, and let “the good cancer cells” remain?
How can we be sure that those cancer cells that are not now causing damage will later mestastasize into a body-destroying force?

If we come to the realization that Islam is “a cancer” upon The West, what comprises its “cells”?

Does not each individual Muslim represent “a cell of Islam”?

If that is true, we obviously have seen what the “bad cells” of the Islamic cancer can do, and what they intend for us.

But what about the _other_ “cells of Islam”?

Do we take the multicultural approach and say that even though they appear to be “the good cells of the Islamic cancer”, that “all cells are equal” and they have the right to be in our body?

Can we afford to take that risk?

Hatred and intolerance causes leftists to side with the radical islamists.

Islam would not pose a threat to the world if not for oil. The oil wealth has gone to their heads like PCP. Take that away from muslim nations and they will settle back into their backward ways.

Good point - and I believe it is correct. The oil billions allow the Muslim nations to threaten Israel and the U.S., finance Islamic terrorism and export their 'religion'. However, because oil is the lifeblood of most advanced economies, it is not going to be replaced any time soon. The U.S. could supply over half of our oil needs if the government would allow new drilling, which won't happen while the Democrats are in power. Still, your point that oil money fuels Muslim expansionist attempts and their feeling of superiority is well taken.

I don't see any solution to that unless an atomic war breaks out in the middle east following an Iranian nuclear attack on Israel (or vice versa) which I believe is likely. Then, not only will the Muslim states be physically devastated but the U.S. would be forced by necessity to explore new oil resources.

Of course, the fallout from nuclear explosions, even as far away as the middle east, could have disastrous consequences for America and the world economy, so I don't wish for such an event to occur. I'm just sayin'.

The better nuclear solution would be nuclear energy, taking at least some of the edge off the world’s jones for oil.
But we won’t do that.
The most effective solution of all would be to storm the muslim capitals, take over their govts, install puppets and commandeer their oilfields. Take the oil away, just as we would take a loaded gun from a child too immature to handle it. In short, we should re-colonialize.
But we won’t do that either. :(
