Over the years, Sen. John McCain has been known to change his views every now and then. Environmentalists hope this is one of those times.

Now that McCain has dispatched a conservative primary challenger and Arizona appears set to send him back to the Senate, climate advocates are optimistic they will soon regain one of their biggest champions.

...

Multiple sources said McCain reassured them in private that he still believed in the climate issue...

I figure he’ll wait until after he wins (if he does) and then go back to being The Maverick isle crosser. Either the voters of AZ agree w/ him or they’re ignorant of what he’s been up to. In either case its sort of sad...I really did think they were more on the ball.

How could you possibly think the voters had a brain between them all, when you consider who our president is? I just care about regaining the majority, if Sen. Mancurian wants to go crazy after that its outta our hands.

RIght...I sort of understand how Barry became president. However, the AZ primary was post Barry and the enormity of the mistake called DC had dawned (or was dawning) on those w/ a functioning brain. In that light Im sure McCains opponent played up The Maverick’s goofy aisle crossing DC antics. Yet, most AZ voters thought The Great Crosser represented them. What the heck is up w/ that?

Yes, of course, once he’s been voted in theres no stopping the foolishness. Whats your point tho? Why is it AZ voters crapped on their golden opportunity to remove govt from their backs? Do they have such a cavalier attitude about the vote? Seems so. Even with the hot immigration issue on the front burner and McCains record of opposing border security they still bellied up to the cool-aid bucket. I say a pox on them then. I dont want to hear any more whining about the cock roach invasion.

I lived in AZ for a few years and I never did understand the politics of it. I do know there's something wrong with a group of people who find themselves in the middle of a friggin' desert and decide that's a perfect place for a city.

But if the REpublicans can secure the majority, they can control the Senate agenda and stop Obama and the 'Rats. Most voters don't understand how important just being the majority party is and risk handing the country over to its destroyers because one of our guys votes wrong or supports an unpopular issue or is misquoted. Its terrifying.

See, this is where we differ. I would argue that a RINO (which is what McCain is) is far worse than a dem. Its the difference between predictability and not, someone who’s a true ally and not. McCain in the recent past has done almost everything he could to scuttle the efforts of true conservatives + walk lock step much of the time w/ enemies of this country (the dems). So, Im not buying the argument of quantity over quality. Yes, quantity has it advantages but as we’re currently witnessing w/ the dems that doesn’t always play out well in the end.

So, you don't understand the importance of having the majority? Amazing. You do know Reagan supported EVERY Republican candidate, don't you? Every one. Its why he created "The Eleventh Commandment". He understood the importance of controlling the governmental agenda. Of course, except for Barry Goldwater, there were no conservatives.

Every elected official will disappoint you on some issue, sometime, but as Ann Coulter likes to say, "There are some bad Republicans, but there are NO good Democrats."
