My wife has a cop story and sends this. “I had a 6’3” 315 pound man(according to police) who stopped in front of me, got out of his car and rushed my car, screaming. I drove around him and he followed me to the county jail where I drove for help. He got out and rushed my car again so I pulled my gun (I have a CHL). He ran into the jail and I drove around the block and called 911. I was surrounded by 6 cop cars and 12 cops, handcuffed, taken to police station and rudely interrogated for over an hour. The perp admitted to being bipolar and cops said he was on sex predator list, but he was let go with nothing. I complained about my rights being violated and the cops mismanagement and nothing was done to discipline the cops.”
Basically, the local yocals don’t like the idea of a granny on her way to church being able to defend herself with a legally carried firearm.
hey Pup, while doing the classroom part of Ky CDW class this morning, i used your statement there and the instructor was surprised...I couldnt recall your state this AM, but he was interested in the law there...do ya references to the statute to save time ??? or is it a case precedent ???
I am a former Chicago Policeman and left after 4 years. Couldn't take the court, political crap and the B Panthers. Was at the Demo Convention in 68. My partner and I quit in 72 and we bought a diary farm in Wis. But after two years, couldn't sustain the operation.
I know that most PD's are good, but there is an element that needs to be cleared out. Bless you and sorry that you had to experience that.
After I received my CCW, I took a "Self defense & the law" class. The instructor was an ex Ct State Trooper & was also a retire Lt of large towns police force. He was the one that told the class, so I really don't know what statute it is.
I am sorry I don't have more info for you. Given the instructors background, I just took it as fact.
fun fact for Ky...a concealed deadly weapon in your home is "illegal" by statute w/o a permit...

I’m really surprised here on FReeRepublic the first several responses were not “If you aren’t doing something wrong, you don’t have anything to worry about” by all those how lick the boots of any one who says “respect mah a-thor-i-tay”.
Maybe I need to read more to find that brand of Sheep that populates FreeRepublic.
