Jesse Jackson Jr. breaks his silence
WLS ^ | September 17, 2010 | John Dempsey

EXCERPT

Federal Prosecutors have said that at that meeting, one of the businessmen discussed donating one million dollars to Blagojevich if the ex-governor would name Jackson to replace Barack Obama in the U.S. Senate.

On the radio show this morning, Jackson denied that. He did say that one of the Indian-Americans began speaking in a language he did not understand, and said “I did not participate in any part of that conversation nor do I even remember hearing it, and I have witnesses present."

Jackson said he has been avoiding the media since the Blagojevich arrest because he had been subpoenaed by the federal prosecutors, and was afraid anything he might say to the press could be used against him in court.

He was not called to testify in the Blagojevich trial that ended in August, but could possibly be called as a witness in the re-trial set for January. Jackson referred to the possibility of him facing charges saying, “If I’m a conspirator, bring it on.”

Must have been some meeting with RE!

Rahm Emanuel, Jesse Jackson Jr.—both mulling Chicago mayoral runs—huddle Wednesday night
By Lynn Sweet on September 15, 2010

White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel and Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. (D-Ill.)—both mulling Chicago mayoral runs—huddled in Washington on Wednesday night.

“It’s fair to say they had a conversation not only about the race, but about the city itself,” said a source who declined to be named.

Emanuel and Jackson are among the more than two dozen potential contenders pondering jumping in the Feb. 22, 2010 nonpartisan Chicago mayoral primary in the wake of Mayor Daley’s decision last week not to seek another term.

Jackson’s wife, Sandi, a Chicago alderman, also is on some long lists of maybe candidates.

Emanuel is wrestling with what is a major life decision for him, one being made in the context of having to juggle major domestic and international matters for the Obama White House.

Emanuel commissioned his long-time pollster, Stanley Greenberg to poll Chicagoans to help Emanuel test issues and his own viability.

I hope his pollster asks “is Rahm too tiny to sit in the Mayor’s chair without a booster seat”?

Is Jesse trying to dig himself in deeper? You know, I often attend important meetings with people whom I don’t understand and never bother to ask for a translation or explanation. I also don’t talk about things that I have done that might be illegal.

What a dope!

I think Don Wade summarized it best. 3J and RE made a pact to not use the Blago trail in their campaigns since someone could taint the jury pool with the mudslinging or end up ^having^ to testify this time around.

They both want to see Blago taken out without their participation.

Upshot? RE is running for mayor and 3J put out the word that he wants to be the ^only^ black candidate.

A new theory is put forth by John Kass that RE might be putting JJJ up to running to spread the field of black candidates in order to screw Reverend Meeks. And all parties are fearful of the second Blago trial starting just before the election.

My money says that RE has no hope of being mayor. He's got enemies spread all over and if the election this fall goes the way we hope, RE has to splain that one first, Blago second and thirdly his lack of personality.

LOL ..

Imagine those guys in Chicago .. the fear factor
everyday must be HUGE .. never knowing who’s wired,
who’s cooperating, who’s next on the arrest list,
what’s Fitzie’s latest delusion ... such pressure.

I thought of that when I saw this .. and you see
that political thug machines are in NY, OH, LA, PA,
IL, NJ, NV .... everywhere .. and where’s there’s
power, politicians, govt money and jobs ... THERE’S
THUGS and union machines READY TO BEND
AND BREAK LAWS AND PEOPLE and hook
the greedy, WEAK and unethical, wherever they can
find them.

"You talked on the Radio?
Who told you to talk on the radio?
I didn't tell you to talk on the radio.
Why'd you talk on the radio?
If you want somebody to talk on the radio you let me do it."

"I guess I screwed up, huh, Jackie?

"Your damn right you screwed up!
That's going to be a problem.
This a clear violation of your rights.
It's an infringement on your constitutional rights.
That's totally inappropriate. It's lewd, lascivious, salacious, outrageous!"

An unidentified source told the Chi/Trib JJJr attended an Oct 31, 2008 meeting sponsored by Oak Brook "businessman" Raghuveer Nayak. The source told the Chi/Trib that Nayak AND Blagojevich aide Rajinder Bedi told attendees a $million to the Governor would ensure JJJr got Obama's Senate seat.

" I been in Congress 13 years. My earmarks totaled $231,000 as of 6/1/07.
There's plenty more where that came from. There's "nothing wrong and nothing
new" about my funneling hundreds of thousands of dollars to my wife, Sandi,
a Chicago Alderman."

He could have been likely heavily accented, and Jesse’s
ears couldn’t get it.

Here’s Dr. Nayak’s very Americanized son (Raghu is mentioned) at an MLK event with Jesse FReakin’ Sr.

~~~
“Jackson has acknowledged speaking with Nayak, but maintains that Nayak was not acting on his behalf. Jackson also maintains that he did nothing illegal.
Nayak (( who owns a chain of surgical centers )) is an Indian-American businessman who raised money for Blagojevich, and who also wanted Blagojevich to appoint Jackson to the U.S. Senate seat once held by Barack Obama. Just days before the former governor’s arrest, Nayak co-hosted a fundraiser at which Blagojevich spoke with Congressman Jackson’s wealthy brother, Jonathan Jackson.
Nayak has reportedly asked federal prosecutors for immunity from criminal prosecution, in exchange for cooperating with investigators.”
Looks like the Indian officials and muckety-mucks were getting more involved in US business and politics .. i.e., hosting some black political leaders at their embassy. I Know that Pres. Bush and the Indian president were very close, and Pres. Bush was definitely trying to strengthen
the US relationship with India.
Obviously, either the Black Caucus/operatives wanted in on
the possibile opportunities and made advances, or the Indians opened dialogue. Either way, it looks like alliances were forged, and Dr. Nayak and Bedi were on the frontlines of Indian political involvement in IL.
December 12, 2008
As Gov. Rod Blagojevich was trying to pick Illinois’ next U.S. senator, businessmen, including Raghuveer Nayak, with ties to both the governor and U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. discussed raising at least $1 million for Blagojevich’s campaign as a way to encourage him to pick Jackson for the job, the Tribune has learned.
Blagojevich made an appearance at an Oct. 31 luncheon meeting at the India House restaurant in Schaumburg sponsored by Oak Brook businessman Nayak, a major Blagojevich supporter who also has fundraising and business ties to the Jackson family, according to several attendees and public records.
