Two weeks ago the U.K. Guardian gleefully reported the self-proclaimed skeptical environmentalist Bjorn Lomborg, the best-selling writer on the environment, professor, and director of the Copenhagen Consensus think tank, had made a serious acquiescence to the global warming climate change global climate disruption movement that could quite possibly change the face of the entire conversation. From the article:

Ping!
“..The fact that Ive always asserted the reality of man-made climate change never seemed to make an impression on my critics. What mattered was that I had the temerity to question two key tenets of the received wisdom about global warming: I was skeptical of the idea that we were facing the apocalypse, and I didnt accept that the only solution was to mandate drastic cuts in carbon emissions.”
“Of course some corrections and retractions are in order, but perhaps Lomborg and critics of the liberal media may get the last laugh. Maybe, just maybe, some of those who subscribe to the philosophy and pseudo-science behind prophet Als heavily edited and largely discredited gospel, An Inconvenient Truth, will pick up Lomborgs new book, Smart Solutions to Climate Change: Comparing Costs and Benefits. Theyll pick it up excited for the self-affirmation only an A-list convert to their cause can provide them and will be utterly shocked when theyre confronted with still more blasphemy. If that happens, well have only our pals in the mainstream media to thank.”

I remember quite well from the beginning, Ol’ Bjorn always said he personally believed that Global Warming was probably real but that the drastic, statist, economy-killing measures put out by the warmists were not the way to go.
Of course “global warming” is real.
It just isn’t Man Made.
It’s a gigantic lie made by Al Gore, who is definitely not a “man”.
...and I say, take it up with the Man in charge of the Science, rules, laws, and impact of weather.
He doesn’t live here, and the methods to reach him aren’t
understood generally.
A tall tower was tried once, but didn’t work out real well and He is still in charge.
Apparently it is a lot easier to get in touch with the chief complainer, and so most folks try the devil and his ideas. One just happens to be designed to slap God in the face, called global climate disruption.
I call it global climate disruption syndrome, an incurable malady for those without faith that this planet was organized, designed, built, populated, regulated, for mankind for as long as the Creator desires.
Well stated, the "Truth" rules, FRiend!
Ironic that you posted this thread, as it fit perfectly with the reply I was getting ready to make to a poster’s comments on 9/8/10 regarding this subject in MPR NEWS.
Thanks for giving me the opportunity to cross-post __my reply to him below__ in your thread on Free Republic. bttt

Will we ever get action on climate change?

My Reply to Blinne’s comments:

[Quote]: “...In short, the so-called skeptics just make stuff up. Challenge each and every number they give. I’ll close with a little encouragement to Naomi and Erik. Bjorn Lomberg has changed his mind. ...” [End quote]
Mr. Blinne is spreading misinformation he apparently gleaned from media sources.
Let’s actually hear the truth of the matter from the, so-to-speak, ‘horse’s mouth’ via personal letter, shall we?:
Dear Alexander:
Youve got it exactly right. The Guardians spin notwithstanding, there has been no U-turn or other change of direction in my thinking about global warming. Ive always said it was real and we must do something about it. Where I parted with conventional wisdom, and still part, is in my belief that some of the proposed cures for climate change (most especially drastic cuts in carbon emissions) would actually be worse than the disease they are meant to solve. I appreciate the fact that you realize this.
Best, Bjorn
In addition to the above personal letter, Lomborg mounted a formal retort to the journalism malpractice. Read his commentary here:
