Sarah Palin: Primaries are over, GOP must unite (There will be unity when RINOs conform or quit)
MSNBC ^ | 9/18/2010 | MIKE GLOVER/AP

After helping propel several upstart Republican contenders to recent primary victories, Sarah Palin said Friday that it's time for Republicans to unite now that primary season is over.

The former Alaska governor and 2008 GOP vice presidential nominee delivered a fiery speech to about 1,400 people at the Iowa Republican Party's Reagan dinner, the party's largest annual fundraiser. She noted that the general elections are less than two months away and stressed that Nov. 2 should be the focus of all Republicans.

"This is our movement, this is our moment," she said. "The time for unity is near. It is time to unite and make government work."

Her appearance in the state where precinct caucuses traditionally launch the presidential nominating season drew intense attention, but she found time to joke about it. If she laced up her running shoes, she said, the headlines would read: "Palin in Iowa, decides to run."

Gov. Palin --as always-- is spot on.

The problem is the backstabbing wing of the GOP
which has already attacked for the DNC and Obama.

“Rove is pushing Romney so aggressively some folks are beginning to wonder what's going on,” grumbled one veteran Republican strategist.”

“Rove has made no secret of his support for Romney as McCain’s VP. ”

“The Maverick” will be so marginalized when he’s surrounded by the real Conservatives.

The only way to stop all these rino’s from playing King is to have enough on our side that their vote won't matter, or just under the majority would work too.

It's the 51-52 majority that give all the power to the rino’s.

I saw where the loser in Alaska, Murcryski, wants to be a write-in Candidate but all she's doing is trying to split the GOP so a Rat can win. It won't work.

No, McLame will be portrayed as the voice of "reason" by all the msm pundits. He''ll eat it up like ice cream as he undermines any real reform proposed.

He has always been a narcisstic, egomanical, media whore. That ain't likely to change.

Exactly. There is no real reaching across the aisle to the leftists - they hold out their hands and the RINOs kiss them.

Look at what happened when Bush tried to be civil with Kenedy - he got bitch-slapped as a reward.

Let's be realistic. Even with a majority, the GOP won't really have a whole lot of power as long as Obama can veto everything. Even with a wholesale beating and the prospect of 2012, there still won't be enough Democrats scared enough of the voters to override a veto.

So, control or no control, the most important thing is to have enough solid seats so that the Democrats can't peel off enough squishes to reach 60. 48 or 49 should be safe enough, but each extra seat simply makes it safer.

One word of defense for "the Maverick", though. As much as the so-called "gang of 14" was derided, they did wind up getting the vast majority of Bush's stalled nominations through, for generally extremely minor concessions. Sometimes real bipartisanship (as opposed to "bipartisanship" which simply means that Republicans do what Democrats want them to do) actually works.

I love, LOVE that we finally get to use this “must unite” line against the RINOs for a change.

I also love that nary a one of them has complied, either outright running as third-party candidates or refusing to endorse the primary winner.

Remember this when they tell us to all rally around Romney, or some RINO nominee in some race from now on.

Let's be realistic. Control over the Senate or the House means that you control the agenda of that particular part of Congress. You have the majority number of members on the committees, which are chaired by your party. You decide what bills will be addressed and voted upon. You can investigate the Executive Branch as part of your oversight authority.

Yes, Obama can veto legislation, but a GOP Congress can make life very miserable for the Supreme Leader.

I hope that AK makes it an election rule that you must spell the name of the candidate correctly on the ballet when you write the name in....if so....she will get about 3 votes!

If it wasn’t a numbers game in Washington I would support the DEM candidate in AZ...after all....voting for that phoney baloney John McCain is the same as voting DEM...only being labeled GOP allows him to continue to believe that he is a Maverick...everytime I think of him calling himself a maverick I have to crawl across the floor to reach a chair to pull myself up off the floor where I have fallen from laughing so hard. He’s an egocentric pain in the arse...not a maverick.
