Dana Bash: Snowe sounds off (RINO praises Castle, attacks Tea Partiers, conservatives)
CNN - Political Ticker ^ | 2010-09-16

Posted on 09/18/2010 9:31:08 AM PDT by rabscuttle385

(snip)

Visibly sad, Snowe called Castle "an outstanding public servant who was committed to the common good of his state and country."

The longer Snowe talked about the state of the GOP and the Tea Party movement, the more riled up she got.

"Understand, there are a lot of issues that, for example, in the Tea Party that they raise that are legitimate issues. Did we abandon our basic principles of fiscal responsibility? Absolutely. I was arguing those points during the Bush administration," Snowe said emphatically, "I made those very arguments."

"Congress isn't working right and it's not working well, and I share that frustration and anger. They're angry? So am I," Snowe said as her voice got louder, "I'm angry, because I work here ever day and I want things to be different. I'm here to solve problems to make people happy, not to make them sad and angry," Snowe insisted.

And what does Castle's loss tell Snowe about whether there's a place for moderates like her in the GOP?

"Well there are fewer of us so that goes without saying," Snowe said, but then immediately argued that "we can't be endangered if you want to be a majority party."

"It doesn't stand to reason that the Republican Party would want to exclude moderate Republicans if they want to be a majority party. Those are mutually exclusive propositions," Snowe said.

At times, as the Maine Republican talked about this issue, she became exasperated.

"Ideological purity at 100 percent is a utopian world and I don't know who lives in utopia. I've never lived in utopia," said Snowe.

Scott Brown is apparently afraid of losing. He reportedly confronted Senator DeMint, asking if DeMint was trying to make him lose.

Mike Castle was considered unbeatable too, until he had a serious challenger. A lot of the RINOs get reelected with Democrat and independent support which they don’t have in the primaries. So when they get a serious PRIMARY challenge, they can lose

So, what did Phaedras say to get ZOTted?

Calling multiple RINOs c**ts -- like the moonbats used to do to Palin on the infamous T-shirts.

It was over quickly, like Korah's rebellion against Moses.

NO cheers, unfortunately.

Snowe should be treated like the French whores who slept Nazis during the occupation. Her hair should be cut off, stripped naked and run through the streets to the derision of Tea Partiers.

A false flag allows the enemy to get in close enough to blow you out of the water.

Krauthammer is wrong when he keeps harping about the Buckley Rule (support the most conservative candidate who's electable). O'Donnell's electabilty isn't the issue.

Adherence to the Buckley Rule has given us Castle, Crist, Murkowski, Snowe. Don't forget it was Snowe's vote in the name of "moving the process forward" that allowed the healthcare bill to go from committee to a floor vote.

Krauthammer believes electing a GOP majority trumps all because Republicans will control the committees and rules. But what good is that if they just “go along to get along” when attacked, like they routinely did under Bush? Boehner's recent statement that he would support renewing Bush's tax cuts for all but those earning over $250,000 shows that the establishment GOP can’t be trusted. Caving under pressure is in their DNA.

We have a brief window of opportunity to undo the damage of Obama’s first 20 months. Sending more RINOs to Congress will just ensure more of the same, regardless of which party is in the majority.

The good doctor needs to wake up and smell the tea.

The RINO conspiracy is becoming apparent. You certainly can’t blame them. Desperate times for their survival and all.

Here is what’s going on: we have the RINOs surrounded. They see their power slipping away. It’s not just the RINOs who have lost their primaries. It is also the RINOs like Snowe and Graham who will lose in 2 or 4 years if the Tea Party rebellion succeeds and continues to grow. And political consultants like Karl Rove who is watching his clients drop like flies. Rove spent the last 10 years building the GOP as it is constituted today. He’s the last one who wants to see it all slip away.

So the RINOs are now trying to put down an uprising. Many are perplexed at why RINOs like McCain and Rove never fought the Democrats like they have the Tea Party. After all, we’re still on the same team, right?

Well yes, we are on the same team, and they are the team captians.
Now not only is their control over the team threatened, but their very membership to it. They want to run the team, and they want to run it their way.

When it comes to RINOs vs Democrats, that’s all a game. It’s a bookseller, rough and tumble, but it is still a game. You win some, you lose some, you live to play another day. RINOs and Demos will trade power, but they always control the vote and their voters. The Tea Party rebellion threatens that.

See, when it comes to their control over the Republican Party and their place in it, that’s not a game. That is their careers, their power, their livelihood. It’s win at all costs, or die for them. That is why they are fighting the Tea Party more viciously than they have ever fought the Democrats.

The only way for the RINOs to put down the Tea Party rebellion is to sabotage the Republican candidates in November. Run as ‘independents’ against them like Crist and Murkowski. Create disunity like Rove. This isn’t for Crist and Murkowski to win so much as it is for Rubio and Miller to lose. Because if the Democrats win those races, then that’s two less Tea Partiers at the GOP table to threaten the Ruling Class RINOs. And the voters who are in open rebellion will learn their lesson, to listen to The Establishment, because RINOs know best.

Worthless. Get the hag the hell out of there. I know Maine has had as terrible brain drain the last fifty years or so, but there has to be someone up there who's head is not in rectal defilade.

“This is why we won’t take the Senate in 2010 and why it would not have mattered if Castle had won the nomination and gone on to win the senate seat. We would have had a flimsy majority at best with traitors in our midst. At least we should win enough seats to check the unbridled power of the commie rats.”

Correct. It will take electing a number of conservative senators in 2012 (and throwing out some “big government conservatives”) to have a reliable majority. And probably until 2014 to have a veto proof majority.

Assuming we can keep the intensity up, of course.

I'm here to solve problems to make people happy, not to make them sad and angry,"

Dear Senator Snowe:

That's not your job. You're not there to make people "happy". Or to make them "sad and angry".

You're there to do your job. And, somewhere along the way, you forgot what it was.

You won't be missed.

What kind of hold did Mike Castle HAVE on these people?? He doesn’t seem to have any visible charisma and yet they mourn his loss as though he were some sort of holy man.

Was he, perhaps, their Viagra dealer?

All kidding aside, I believe they are mourning the loss of another "professional politician", like themselves. A kindred spirit with no strong principles, but a shared enthusiasm for feeding greedily at the public trough. Plus, of course, a strong sense of self-importnce and, thus, a lust for re-election.

Mike Castle was, indeed, "one of them."

Lisa Murkowski seems to fit this profile, as well.

I think you just hit on the central question here in the whole Karl Rove meltdown over the lost Castle nomination.

There must have been at least a half a dozen already cooked up ‘deals’ between the Biden family and the K Street Establishment in the District of Corruption.

Why kind of deals? Obviously, job switching deals of which Mr. Castle is a particular adept. Why no Republican running against Biden’s son for Delaware Attorney General? You mean to tell me that there isn’t a female African-American attorney in the Wilmington Banking Community that couldn’t have wiped the floor with that idiot son Biden?

Delaware has only 885,000 citizens so it should be pretty easy to get the message out that a vote for O’Donnell for U.S. Senate is a vote for a hardline approach on spending by the Federal Government AND that Christine will also not be afraid to ball up her fist on the Senate Floor at Venezuela and Hugo Chavez over his ruinous domestic economic policies [Which hurts Delware business].

Christine O’Donnell can and will win the Delaware U.S. Senate seat if she sticks to that simple message.

What, you don’t think that the old-money scions from those Dutch Tobacco merchants families from Henlopen Acres aren’t going to prefer Christine over a self-described ‘bearded Marxist’?

Please...don’t strain yourself.

Good grief, Olympia, you'd have to work real hard just to achieve 50%. You're a liberal. You don't belong in the republican party. You don't belong in Washington, period.

She's not going to be unseated by a conservative challenger. So, she can afford to throw her own party under the bus.

If the party stood by its alleged conservative principals, they'd throw HER under the bus.

There is no such thing as a moderate republican. First, the word “republican” carries absolutely no meaning in this era.

Second, the word “moderate” means that you don’t lean hard one way or the other.

Since Republican means nothing, then averaging zero you get zero.

To repeat, moderate republican has no meaning.

Ha. I was gonna call her Yellow Snowe too cause she’s p*ssing out of her mouth here.

“100% ideologically purity” Ha. How about 51%? She can’t even manage that.

We need 51 minus Snowe/Collins/Kirk (at least) to have a real majority (or something close to it).

Lugar isn’t as bad as them. But he is worse than McCain and a lot of others that get more flack than he does. If he won’t retire in 2012 we’ll have to make him.

I have been praying for weeks that 0bama et al come out and speak the truth of who they are. Also, I have asked the Almighty God, in Jesus’ Holy Name, to send His angels and The Holy Spirit to descend on DC, the Capitol, its offices and WH. May they all see the Founders and angels in the halls. Like in the movie “Prophecy” where Christopher Walken (Gabriel) stands up and looks Elias Koteas (Tommy Dagget) in the eyes. May the DC types feel the chills up their spines, on the back of their necks and through their souls. May they receive visitations from Our Lord Jesus Christ. May they see themselves for who they are and turn from the evil they have done and are doing to this country and our Christian roots. May they quake in their boots, drop their papers, see one too many coincidences of the Divine Hand in America’s experience, to not know they are treading where angels fear to tread.

Dear God, may they atone. Turn Your Wrath from us. Please.

In Christ’s Holy Name, on this Holy Day, I humbly ask this.

Amen

THis has been my fervent prayer for weeks.

The same amount of time I’ll spend taking Obama to task for what he is doing. I’ll never forget or quit talking about either one of them.

This thread addresses RINOs. Discussion of Sarah Palin is not off topic on it.
