I’m very expensive
My husband went to university for 3 years, his major was journalism. He interned for what was the Milwaukee Journal at the time, he hated the liberal slant of the paper and went to trade school instead. He has since taught many young men how to be excellent carpenters. Now, we can't afford to pay any employees and have gone from building 7-8 houses a year to building none. We do sheds, decks, siding, roofing, any work we can get. We used to run two crews of carpenters. Colin really pissed me off here.
Colin Powell...what a freakin’ disappointment.

Powell is very much like Arlen Spector—a Republican of convenience An opportunity for advancement presented itself and he just took advantage of the chance to climb the golden stairway of power and status. Washington is swarming with people like this.
Powell is just another Affirmative Action beneficiary who has shown his ineptness and lack of conservative principles evry time he opens his mouth without a prepared speech in front of him.

If the illegals already here are legalized, then they will be followed by many millions more expecting the same deal. Colin & his ilk will encourage this to keep his repair costs down & his lawn mowed. What he doesn't seem to realize is that the money he saves in yard labor is much less than the price he pays for unrestricted illegal immigration.
Conceivably, a huge majority of Mexico, Nicaragua, & El Salvador could decide to head North. Mexicans have even more incentive now to flee North with their country in near civil war. There is little to stop them & amnesty waiting to welcome them, along with free medical, schools, housing, food stamps, & a host of other freebie's.
Frankly, I am surprised there aren't 100,000 a day entering the USA illegally. I guess we have the smugglers to thank for that, as THEY control the border. But if it is not happening now, it soon will.
I simply don’t get it. Why do people like Powell slam the right for being “anti-immigrant”? We aren’t against immigration. For God’s sake, we are against ILLEGAL immigration. It makes us sound like we are a bunch of racist bigots because we want people to follow the laws of our land. I mean, when my ancestors came from Germany, they went through hell to get here and they followed the law. They had to go through customs and immigration and all of that; they had to wait in line at Ellis Island with thousands of other people. That is a story of sacrifice for a better life. They risked EVERYTHING they had to come to America.
However, somebody sneaking across the border and stealing someone’s social security number—not so much heroic as it is selfish. And that’s not racist—it’s just the truth.
Golly gee. Mr. Powell should be arrested and charged with hiring illegal aliens if he admits to knowing about it all along.
So, colon, when are you going to turn yourself in for breaking the law?

Hey Colin - I’m sure you are really good at figuring out sorties and troop movements but here’s a clue. If you reward illegal activity, it will breed more illegal activity.

This is just as bad as any of those appointees that were torpedoed due to illegal nannies, right? If he’s working for the government (what’s he doing these days - I think he’s retired) - he should be fired. If he’s private - he needs to be investiaged and fined/charged (as you say.)
