O'Donnell Witch Hunt
IBD Editorials ^ | September 20, 2010 | Investors Business Daily staff

Posted on 09/20/2010 6:18:36 PM PDT by Kaslin

Politics: The GOP's chosen nominee for senator from Delaware is being asked to defend comments about the occult. Hey, it's not as if she "dabbled" in the KKK or Marxism or seanced with a very dead Eleanor Roosevelt.

Be careful whom you date in high school or what you dabble in to humor a boyfriend. Those skeletons in your closet may come back to haunt you, particularly if you become a conservative Tea Party candidate fighting to stop creeping socialism in America.

Last Friday, comedian Bill Maher, whose cable show "Real Time" is considered by liberals as a real news source (unlike, say, Fox News), dug up and showed an 11-year-old interview from 1999 in which O'Donnell, then 30 years old, said she "dabbled in witchcraft" because she "hung around people who were doing these things" in high school.

O'Donnell graduated from Moorestown (N.J.) High School in 1987, a dozen years before the Maher appearance. If political candidates are to be judged by what they did or hung with in high school, we are taking the vetting process to extremes.

Two days later, pundit Karl Rove, whose primary night critique of O'Donnell caused a stir, was on "Fox News Sunday" saying: "In Delaware, where there are a lot of churchgoing people, they're going to want to know what this is all about."

Perhaps, but they also want to know about her position on the repeal of ObamaCare and extending the Bush tax cuts.

She was a senior in HIGH SCHOOL when this happened!!

I'm a practicing Catholic and I did the Ouija Board for a few months, which is against my religion (didn't know that at the time, though).

Well that explains it! Lots of teenage girls rebel. Like I said, the question to ask: is O'Donnell going to enslave us further to the government, or give us greater freedom?

This just politics as usual. Vote for the anointed ones and continue to work to pay taxes till you drop dead in the process. Too much blood was spilled to avoid this very thing. Rove is worse than a whore.

LOL. I remember that movie, “The Craft”. I thought it was totally ridiculous, but then I wasn’t in high school when I watched it.

Bill Mahr is such a tool. Did he really think anyone would care what someone did in HIGH SCHOOL?—I mean besides the chattering class. Talk about desperate.

And then there’s Barry, who no one in the ministry of propaganda seemed to think was worthy of any vetting at all.
Any wonder we think the LSM are MORONS of the highest order?

That is not her problem. Her problem is she used to go on the Bill Marr show.

He was as much of a jerk then as now. A big government socialist claiming he is libertarian, Now that O is president he cant hide his socialist leanings. He got fired from his ABC late night job.

Good grief.

I guess I am out of the running for any sort of public office seeing that I used to blow things up with the chemicals from my chemistry kit when I was 12.

I also played a lot of Yahtzee in college, a sure sign that I need to answer questions about my gambling back then. (Never mind that we played for pizza)

Karl Rove: ".. they're going to want to know what this is all about."

This is another thing that has to stop. I am not the least bit interested in these drive by shootings of candidates who won't go along to get along. Every time we see one of these deep background hits on someone we should presume that it is untrue or nothing and go after the motivations of the perp.

We are interested in the performance of our public servants in their official capacity, not their personal lives. Rove just keeps proving that he is just another bottom sucking scum politician with every word he utters. The GOP should fire him and tell him to get out of dodge. Until they do I have less respect for the party than I do for Rove, which is pretty hard right now.

The building them yourself was the fun part. You add a pinch of this and a touch of that and a bit of what you found under the sink and next thing you know you have a major fireball that takes out half the lemon tree.

Er... I mean rogue lighting strike! Yeah... that was what it was.

Interesting? This lady dabbled as a high school teen and is being crucified by the media while Byrd dabbled as and adult, Clinton dabbled as an adult, Jackson dabbled as an adult, Obama dabbled as an adult, and many more exalted liberal clowns dabbled as an adult in a much more important way. But the media does not care about the liberal a__holes, they concentrate on the teen life of a current challenger.

I would suggest that Ms O'Donnell stage a rally similar to what Beck did on 8/28. I would bet that she would attract 2 million plus Americans. And it might help some folks from Delaware to make a voting decision.

The only people who matter are the Delaware voters. Rowe and the beltway crowd can't vote and are irreverent. Delaware voters want someone who will vote against spending, taxes and big government. O'Donnell is clearly the better choice than the Marxist Coons.

The people are getting all this.

It’s not important is Obama is constitutionally eligible to be President.

It is important that we know what one of 100 senators did in High School. There are how many Senate races?

Anyone know who is running for the US Senate next door to Delaware in Maryland?

America doesn’t care really. America wants to hear about Christine O’Donnell.

Keep it going.

The bane of free men has always been politics and those earn their living in that "profession."

Ya know, I was never much of a fan of term-limits because I always had this pie-in-the-sky notion that maybe some particular politicians just had a natural talent for governance and shouldn't be limited if they were truly serving the common good, and that any 'change' could be made at the voting booth by We the People. That notion has mottled profoundly in my eyes.

Human nature, in relation to politics and power, just is what it is. Our Founder's got it right the first time, as George Washington 'limited' himself to two terms and that same tradition continued until FDR blew it right out of the water with 4 (count 'em FOUR!) elected terms to office, until a Constitutional Amendment was invoked limiting POTUS back to two terms.

I never thought that I'd ever say this, but Congress should be limited too, given all the outrageous abuses of power which individual members have wreaked upon We the People over the years and decades ... there is no reason for any member of Congress to be a 'career politician' ... none whatsoever ... they lose a complete concept of street level Americans while basking in the vaunted halls of DC.

Well, what it does to me is, well, I’m happy, because I know that Democrats hate Karl Rove. And when Delaware Democrats see Karl Rove, who they hate, attacking Christine, they’re gonna like Christine.

Over in Ron Paul land, they’re liking Christine.

They hate “neocons”. They use the word wrong. But they do know that Bill Kristol is a neocon and that Bill Kristol attacked her. They know all the attacks are from the Republicans that they hate. Christine filled out the C4L form, and she answered enough of the questions right. So they are liking her more now since when I tried to hype her up about a week before the primary. The Ron Paul people (yes, small in number) are getting on board if they weren’t already. Many, maybe most, of them actually joined the tea party, or are affilited with them in some way. Over on the RPF, those are the leftovers who haven’t gotten excited about other races except Rands.

Here is the problem. Some who enter politics may have alturistic motives. My belief is the vast majority don't. Private jets, almost unlimited power and we the people work till we are dead or at least crippled and get tossed a few worthless cookies tossed in our direction.
