(edit) Seattle police are now searching for Ahmed Mohamed and Jonathan Baquiring after DNA recently linked the two men to the attack in which a 16-year-old boy was robbed, taunted with racial insults, burned with a lit cigarette and punched repeatedly. Mohamed, 22, and Baquiring, 21, each were charged Monday with first-degree robbery and malicious harassment, the state's hate-crime statute. King County Deputy Prosecutor Samantha Kanner said in charging paperwork that she is seeking to have the men held in jail on $500,000 bail once they are arrested. The victim, Shane McClellan, said he was walking home around 2 a.m. when two men, whom he described as a black man and a Filipino, asked him for a light. He said the two men then robbed him and beat him for four hours, whipping him with his own belt while saying things like, "How do you like it, white boy?" and "This is for enslaving our people," according to the police report. McClellan, who is white, said the two men also poured Four Loko energy beer on him, burned him with a cigarette and urinated on him, police said. Police Officer Ryan Blake, who took the report, went to the scene of the beating near Southwest Holden Street and 14th Avenue Southwest, police said. There, he found blood, discarded Four Loko cans and fresh cigarette butts, which he took into evidence.

Would anyone happen to know offhand if "malicious harassment' is a more or less severe charge than 'assault'? Is it a felony? Is it a 'strike' under Washington's Three Strikes law?
Just curious......I have had people accuse me of 'malicious harassment' when I offer them a candy bar when they're trying to diet.
Read the whole article. Even though cops found the two guys walking along the street drinking the same beer and smoking the same cigarettes that were at the crime scene, and even though they had blood on their hands, they were not arrested at that time. Instead, the blood was swabbed and they were let go. Now that the blood matches the beaten kid, both animals are nowhere to be found.
I’ll bet the ONLY reason they weren’t detained right away was fear of a “racism” charge.
They are in need of the 3 S treatment.

After Blake talked with his supervisor, it was decided that he should get good contact information on the two but not take them into custody. But before releasing the two men, Blake used cotton swabs to capture DNA from the blood on their hands, charging paperwork said.
On June 4, police showed McClellan photo montages with the hope of identifying his attackers. McClellan pointed out photos of Mohamed and Baquiring. Baquiring is Asian American and Mohamed is black, according to charging papers.
On Sept. 8, Seattle police received a report from the State Patrol crime lab which confirmed that swabs taken from both men's hands matched McClellan's DNA, charging papers said.
Tim McClellan, the victim's father, said he's relieved the men have been charged, but he's angry with the way police handled the incident. "They had them, they let them go and now they can't find them. This is proof that they dropped the ball," he said. Now we wouldn't want a visit from our Totus to school us on civil rights, would we? /spit

Wow....I'm surprised that a photo has been released if he's sixteen.
Thanks for posting....an important reminder of the results of such a crime. And the photo doesn't show any internal injuries which may shorten his life considerably or at least affect him in some way for life.....not to mention the nightmares.
7:05 PM UPDATE: One of the suspects is now booked into jail - Jonathan Baquiring was jailed less than an hour ago, according to the King County Jail Register.
Give each of these AHs 20 years....No bail.
7:27 PM UPDATE: Southwest Precinct Lt. Norm James is talking more about the case at the West Seattle Crime Prevention Council meeting, which we’re covering right now at the precinct. He says the Anti-Crime Team picked up Baquiring within an hour of getting word of the warrant, which seeks to have both held in lieu of half a million dollars bail each.
