The obvious reason for him to backhand/dismiss Sarah Palin is to pander to voters.

Pander? That assumes way too much about both Perry and the voters of his district.

It may not be widely supported here but the fact is that there are millions of patriotic, conservative and republican Americans who do not view Palin with the same abject worship as those who follow her every twitter.

Perry is, it seems, understanding of his district's sentiments and in line with them. That is not pandering, it is exactly that approach which a local representative should take. The opposite would be to presume to know better than the people what is right for them....you know, like the current adminstration does.

Nice try!

There is one thing to stick to the local issues and not get involved with national figures who may or may not help your candidacy.

It's quite another thing to publicly trash one of the conservative movements leading figures.

It’s not Palin worship to expect a conservative candidate to hold his tongue and not slander a fellow conservative. If he is a conservative, presumably he shares her values. So why the slur against her? It was unnecessary and as I said, at least some of the people voting for him LIKE Sarah Palin even if he does not.

I own a small business and I know people vote with their money. I would never be stupid enough to broadcast my dislike of Obama to my customers - assuming that at least some of them love him.

Politicians should learn from doctors, “First, do no harm.”
