Of course its ignored. The Left simply cannot allow any idea to upset their carefully constructed view of the world. Even if this story were completely and positively verified, the Left would find some way to explain it away - probably by blaming the rapes on Israel, the US, or as a residue of European colonialism. I live in SF, CA, and after talking with Lefties, I'm stunned by the lengths to which they'll go to avoid any intrusion of reality into a carefully constructed world view. Its pathetic and tragic to listen to people - who in other respects are intelligent and rational - defend things that their common sense must tell them are wrong. Yet so attached to a Left wing view of the world that no amount of reason can shake their views. I've come to the conclusion, the politics for the Left is a matter of religious faith that must be defended with the fanaticism of a Wahabi Muslim.

I suspect this happens in the Peace Corps as well but we just don’t hear about the “isolated” incidents.

I heard plenty of stories about the Peace Corps. (or as Obama would say, corpse).
Young idealists go to some hell-hole thinking they’ll “make a difference”...and then experience third-world behavior first hand.

We are not your weapons we are women... it's an utterly insane read. Here's the opening snippet:
Two weeks ago, on a Monday morning, I started to write what I thought was a very clever editorial about violence against women in Haiti. The case, I believed, was being overstated by womens organizations in need of additional resources. Ever committed to preserving the dignity of Black men in a world which constantly stereotypes them as violent savages, I viewed this writing as yet one more opportunity to fight the man on behalf of my brothers. That night, before I could finish the piece, I was held on a rooftop in Haiti and raped repeatedly by one of the very men who I had spent the bulk of my life advocating for.
It hurt. The experience was almost more than I could bear. I begged him to stop. Afraid he would kill me, I pleaded with him to honor my commitment to Haiti, to him as a brother in the mutual struggle for an end to our common oppression, but to no avail. He didnt care that I was a Malcolm X scholar. He told me to shut up, and then slapped me in the face. Overpowered, I gave up fighting halfway through the night.

Thanks SanFranDan.
Two activists have exposed a disturbing phenomenon that they say is an open secret within the "peace camp": female "peace" activists are routinely harassed and raped by the Arabs of Judea and Samaria with whom they have come to identify. They say the phenomenon has gotten worse lately and that many foreign women end up as wives of local Arabs against their will, but cannot escape their new homes.
Gosh, it's so unlike Moslems to do this kind of thing. /sarc

The same thing happened back in the sixties in the civil rights movement among the panthers and the women who identified with them and got involved. Rapes of white women were very common, sort of part of the landscape. I think Ayers wrote about the men raping men too.
Liberation movements are places where bad things happen.

I’m glad this is being reported. Perhaps it will open some eyes.

If you really want to upset them refer to their “pocket knives” instead of “swords”.

Happened in post-Katrina NO also. Remember that one girl raped and killed by the people she came to help.
