Appeals court: Florida ban on gay adoption unconstitutional

Florida Gov. Charlie Crist announced Wednesday afternoon he will cease enforcing the state's 33-year-old gay adoption law, which was declared unconstitutional by a Miami appeals court Wednesday morning.

Crist lauded the court ruling as ``great'' and told reporters at a 2:30 news conference he would immediately stop enforcing the ban. Crist said he wanted to confer with the adoptive father at the center of the case before deciding whether to appeal. He said, however, that he believes the state Supreme Court wouldn't overturn the court rulings.

Crist once supported the ban. But the U.S. Senate candidate reversed himself after he left the Republican Party and began courting the liberal vote.

A Miami appeals court ruled Wednesday that Florida's ban on gays adopting is unconstitutional and affirmed the controversial adoption of two foster children by a gay North Miami couple.

The unanimous 3-0 decision deals a critical blow to Florida's 33-year-old law banning adoption by gay men and lesbians, and most likely sends the case to Florida's highest court for resolution.

...if this is the quality of the rulings we can expect from the judiciary, we’d be better off without a judiciary.

Either that, or just pick people off the street at random to be judges - make sure they can read and they're not felons and they're citizens. Or maybe out of the phone book, or voter rolls.

Funny you should say that. This is what Italy has to say about homosexuals adopting children:

talian official claims link between homosexual adoption and human trafficking

Rome, Italy, Sep 21, 2010 / 02:58 pm (CNA).- The Secretary of State for Family Policy in Italy, Carlo Giovanardi, stated in an interview this week that he believes there is a connection between adoption by same-sex couples and the increase in the human trafficking of minors.

In the interview with political analyst Klaus Davi, Giovanardi noted that “where the adoption by gay couples is allowed, such as in the U.S. and Brazil,” the countries have exploded with the “buying and selling of children.”

“It is something that at least this government will never accept and I want to denounce it from here.”

“To impose two parents of the same sex on a child is to subject that child to psychological violence,” Giovanardi continued. “A child has the right to grow up” in an environment where “a paternal and maternal figure complement each other and guarantee the child balanced development,” he added.

Manc, thank you for your impassioned personal testimony. Brings tears to my eyes, thinking of your friend Keith, and all the other children put in “homes” with degenerates, the mentally ill and sexual perverts (all rolled into one).

It’s a crime against humanity, Nature and Nature’s God.

Thank you for your fighting spirit. If people don’t get fired up about this, they’re part of the problem. People who say that social conservatism is irrelevant, or doesn’t matter, or is even wrong - they should talk to you!

Not only do such judges make fools of themselves, they make themselves enemies of the people of the United States and the Constitution thereof.

It's a horrible story about your friend but one that needs to be told.

In my area, there are two lesbians that have a boy and a girl. I don't know how they got the boy but the girl belonged to one of them. They had a fight and the non-birth lesbian put both kids in the car and sped off. She didn't get far before she lost control and hit a telephone pole. The 6 year old girl died at the scene. The 3 year old boy recovered. The police wanted to nail her to the wall but....it didn't happen. I don't know why but can guess.

There have been studies done that show that homosexual relationships are very violent. And now they are going to put children in the middle of that. This is an absolute nightmare scenario for innocent children.

Mandated Homosexual Adoptions Forces Catholic Church to Quit Adoption Agencies in England

Cardinal says its adoption agencies ‘cannot remain Catholic and conform to the Sexual Orientation Regulations”

WESTMINSTER, May 26, 2008 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Under the leadership of Cormac Cardinal Murphy O’Connor, the Catholic Church in England has recently disaffiliated itself from three of the country’s largest adoption agencies. The Church stated that its adoption agencies ‘cannot remain Catholic and conform to the Sexual Orientation Regulations.”

In an effort to put an end to discrimination against same-sex couples, the British Government released an official statement in 2007 declaring that all adoption agencies must allow same-sex couples to adopt children with equal consideration, regardless of the sexual orientation of the adopting couple. At the time of the statement, Tony Blair and his cabinet gave a 21-month “delay” as a “sensible compromise” to allow Churches to adjust their respective protocols to become more ‘tolerant’ of same-sex couple adoption.

This past week, the Church in England cut ties with the Surrey-based Catholic Children’s Society; one of the country’s largest adoption agencies, with operations covering much of the south-eastern region of the country. As well, the dioceses of Northampton and the diocese of Nottingham have ended their involvement in all adoption agencies in their respective locales. There remain ten other adoption agencies in Britain and Wales whose decisions are due to be released in the coming weeks as the 21-month period comes to a close.

An odd thread for a “free thinking rationalist” to start wouldn’t you say?
