Barack Obama heckled in Manhattan By: Carol E. Lee September 22, 2010 08:09 PM EDT

NEW YORK – President Barack Obama was heckled multiple times during his speech at a Democratic fundraiser in one of the country’s most Democratic cities.

Demonstrators held signs that said “Broken Promises” and interrupted his speech to protest AIDS funding and the stalled repeal of “don’t ask, don’t tell,” the policy banning gays from serving openly in the military that Obama has promised to lift.

Obama showed a flash of irritation after he was forced repeatedly off his prepared remarks. “We listened to you, we heard your point,” he told the “young lady” who continued shouting at him about AIDS funding. “This is not the time or the place to do what you’re talking about.”

Obama also tried to make the most of the moment by pointing out that Republicans would be further away from the protestors on both of the issues they were complaining about.

His administration has increased AIDS funding, he said, but “the people that potentially will take over will cut AIDS funding if we don’t focus on this election.”

The “don’t ask, don’t tell” protest came moments later, as Obama began talking about how incomes for the middle class fell by 5 percent – a statement he had to repeat twice.

The president pointed out that this week Senate Republicans blocked Democrats’

Not impressed. They are whining that he is not liberal enough.

I've got to disagree with you. This is impressive because is shows a large part of the Illegal's base is getting disenchanted with him. That doesn't mean they'll vote for pubbies but it does mean that, like FReepers who became disgusted with Bush, they'll be a lot less enthusiastic about voting for him and other DemonRats. Keeping the other side's vote in is as important as getting our side's out. This leftist disenchantment could well do that to the Illegal and the DemonRats.

I wish you COULD correct typos here.

But after reconsidering, a better typo would have been HERD disease. All the sheeple electing infectious agents to leadership positions.

Here’s a somewhat obvious question - what the heck is AIDS funding? Research? Education? Free condom give aways? Foreign aid boondoggles? Teaching Africans who to wash themselves(at a $million a pop), another AIDS czar? Cameras in all bedrooms to make sure we are doing IT right?

I was caught in the sidewalk and road blockade yesterday as Obama’s motorcade went by. I gave a loud boo and two thumbs down when his limo passed. I was surprised that no one gave me as much as a dirty look. I was also surprised that only a few clapped. I’m sure people were just irritated by being held back, but I was caught in the same sidewalk/roadblock last year and there was a lot of cheering. If he’s losing Manhattanites his future looks gloomy.
