Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood warned this week that the auto industry is not doing enough to keep drivers from fiddling with flashy media features, opening up a new debate over how far the government should go in regulating electronic auto goodies.
A wave of built-in auto technology is starting to hit the market -- the kind of developments that consumers demand in an iPhone world but also pose potential distractions.

I saw this coming so long ago. In cali, it all started with the no tinted window policy. And all for “our saftey.” What a crock of hooy. How many years till we are told. “If an officer can NOT see your hands and “ten” and “two” your going to get a ticket.” Hey America! Wake the EFF up! How long are you goin to take this ssss.
This is what I’m talking about!!!! The government butts in to tell you what to do with everything in your life and every minute of your life.
Like the hands free cell phone issue. There are people who shouldn’t be on the phone and driving. Then again, they probably have issues with reaching for radio, GPS or talking to other people in the car.
They really shouldn’t be driving.
Go ahead and flame away...
LaHood’s current Job as Transportation Secretary is payback for him helping Obama become Senator and soon after President.
He was my Congressman that replaced the hapless Bob Michel, another lib favorite. He seemed reasonable his 1st few years, but 2004 changed a lot when he and the States Treasurer Judy Baar Topinka forced out Peter Fitzgerald, not that I agreed with him on everything either, but he was the most Conservative Senator this state had since Everett Dirksen.
After that created an open seat and Obama’s rise to power was put in play with his primary victory and a walk to the US Senate after Jack Ryan quit the race with his divorce with Geri Ryan all over the news for weeks and Alan Keyes was put up to oppose Obama, and crap about his homosexual daughter and carpetbagging from Maryland.
Ray LaHood and Judy Baar Topinka are 2 of the biggest reasons that Obama is President today. Had Peter Fitzgerald run in 2004 it’s doubtful Obama would have run in the Democrat primary since it wouldn’t have been an open seat and had he done that it would have been a much tougher General election. Obama would have probably stayed a State Senator and never become a national name.
They libs don’t like my current congressman Aaron Schock however, the youngest Congressman in the US and is much better than LaHood or Michel were.
Any bets on when we get a gov’t bureaucrat who’ll tell everyone WHEN TO CHANGE THEIR UNDERWEAR????
I don’t have a radio in my truck and I won’t answer the phone when i’m driving.
I’ll check my voice mail when I get where i’m going.
The solution Obummer has is for us all to move into Soviet style Hi Rises and take the peoples approved form of transport. Bicycles and the occasional trip on the Hi Speed Rail when it is operational.
Screw you LaHood and the rest of the Stalinist/Maoist in the administration.
HA.....I like it....I’m sending it to a stupid niece...or maybe I’ll put in on Facebook!!! Thanks!
I did too. ;) I forgot to tell ‘em welcome to the real world.
Wise up people!Put the boots to the nanny state!

Screw the government
Some of us can walk & chew gum at the same time.
I guess Ray will want get rid of the flashy thinges in airplane cockpits next.
The problem is that democrats want the policy of 10 and 2 - so republican will give them one hand on the wheel and eyes forward - when what they should be saying is leave everyone alone!!! It is the same with money 1 trillon becomes 500 billion and nobody stops folks like LaHood who was an Il. Republican - read that RINO.
Is that a RADIO ON IN YOUR CAR, SIR, LISTENING TO THAT RUSH LIMBOGH? Get out of the car and spread’em.....
