...a weak metajoke...

That's it exactly. It'll be interesting to see if something so flip actually gets people off their sofas.

Yep, it’ll probably be about as white as your average Unitarian church service or Sierra Club meeting.

To answer your question, they’re both insane and out of touch.

Reminiscent of the dims after President Reagan was elected who said, “He couldn’t be elected! I don’t know anyone who voted for him!”

The whole thing is just to defame and mock.

It has already failed.

People that go, are just going to be in on the joke, not because they believe in some great idea.

Who on Earth is going to take a cross-country trip for a ratings stunt from a partisan hack?

Jon (where's the h, on your birth certificate?) Stewart has no future. Sucessful satirist target privilage and power. He can't do to ozero what he did to President Bush, loves the commie too much.

From earlier thread... Hollywood = court jesters, nothing more and nothing less.

Well have you 9/12 and 8/28 aerial photos to compare for numbers with the Jon Stewart event... and also after photos of each event to compare the trash left

And I hear that some girls will dress up as Christine O’Donnell dressed as a witch. They will want to attack O’Donnell some more about her having looked into witchcraft as a teenager.

This rally is going to be a Comedy Central program. It will be a joke. It will be satire and full of mean spirited attacks, though some might try to be funny. But it won’t be a serious rally along the lines of Glenn Beck. Jon Stewart is a comedian, and won’t be able to shed the comedian persona. His fans will make it a circus, not a serious gathering.

Can’t wait.

Actually, when comedians think what you’re doing is big enough that they should parody it - you’ve arrived.

We should all show up with signs that say “Hey ho! Waddaya know? The marxist kenyan has got to go” or some such thing.

I am still waiting for the announcement that Jerry Seinfeld will be the key note speaker to the Million Moderate March as it is surely about nothing.

And if Beck had not held a rally, this Bozo would be in the bushes somewhere playing with himself!

All of these commentators gush about how smart and funny Jon Stewart is, but when he was asked by O”Reilly whether he would now support McCain, he said “NO”. How smart is that? LOL!!! He’s in the same stupid mode as Velma(the exhausted woman at the town hall) and doesn’t have the sense to abandon a sinking ship and just keeps drinking the Kool-Aid.

Joy Behar is one of the vicious fanatics that Stewart is supposedly rallying against.... not that I take John Stewart seriously as anything but a poseur, but if his rally is about rejecting political extremes then leave Joy Behar in the gutter where she belongs

There is an apt description for this behavior. It is called “Counting your chickens before they hatch”.

“Who on Earth is going to take a cross-country trip for a ratings stunt from a partisan hack?”

Appears he is tapping into those same college kids that Obama used during his campaign. The networking I’ve heard about is on Illinois college campuses, trying to organize buses for the trip. As I wrote earlier, I hope there’s enough adult supervision....

The most useful of idiots.

They have no responsibilities, and money to blow to go see the Daily Show live where they will hear angry speakers and lame jokes.

And seeing that that generation is made up mostly of “hipsters”, they are likely going for the sake of irony.
