Christine O'Donnell's Younger Years: Forget Witchcraft, Think Media Godess
Politics Daily ^ | 24/9/10 | Suzi Parker

Posted on 09/24/2010 3:51:43 AM PDT by Eleutheria5

Bless her heart. Christine O'Donnell has a lot of people angry at her -- Wiccans, Satanists, Bill Maher, and even some Republicans.

No small feat, but reflecting on O'Donnell's history, it's par for the course.

Maher made an appearance on "Hardball With Chris Matthews" Tuesday night to discuss O'Donnell, who made more than 20 appearances on his "Politically Incorrect" show years ago. Over the weekend, O'Donnell, who is the Republican Senate nominee in Delaware, said she made comments like the one about dabbling in witchcraft to help Maher with ratings.

Maher called foul.

"It's funny to me, Chris, because this is the woman who claimed on another one of our 'Politically Incorrect' episodes from the '90s that she would not lie, even in the case of hiding Anne Frank in her attic," Maher told Matthews. "Eddie Izzard confronted her and said, 'Really? If Hitler was at the door and you had Anne Frank in the attic, you wouldn't lie?' She said, 'No. God would find a way.' "

Perhaps, Maher did want ratings, but O'Donnell had her own agenda as a young, firebrand former Catholic-turned-Evangelical Christian pushing her message. She said on Sean Hannity's Fox News show Tuesday night that she viewed such appearances as a ministry and that she was excited back then about her new-found faith.

Some will laugh at her naivete, and likely doubt the veracity of her statement, but I know plenty of people who, in their teens and twenties in the Bible belt, tossed their heavy metal albums into the roaring fireplace and began quoting the Gospel.

Same here. If I ran for office though, some jerk would probably find a way to dig it up.

I'm the first to admit I am totally unfit for office. LOL. I had way too much fun, and still do.

Here’s my issue with O’Donnell. She said some NUTSO things on that show...and while I personally don’t care and would walk over hot coals to vote for her if I lived in DE, it’s stuff like this that gives ammo to the leftists claims that Tea Partiers are a bunch of 13th century Neanderthals.

Yea, it's annoying. IMO, there is one thing that it tells me about her personality; She's what I call an AW--an attention whore. (no sexism intended, I use the term with both genders.)

Why go on a stupid show like that? Why was she on MTV? Her views might change, but her appetite for attention and TV cameras remains the same.

That is, of course, a standard trait for those who seek office. They are mostly camera-muggers, and she is definitely such a creature herself.

Does that mean we should have had Castle, or that DE shouldn't elect her? No. It does demonstrate, however, that while we may find people who espouse the views we hold dear, it is infinitely harder to find someone who espouses those views and also demonstrates personal qualities that we might look up to, admire, and trust.

But hey, that's politics for ya. Someone like, say, Joe Miller in AK does not have these things going on with him, but O’Donnell does. Don’t get me wrong - I LIKE and have defended O’Donnell, but it’s hard to shake this. She gave great answers on Hannity the other night but can’t sit on her butt about this as it won’t go away.

DO you disagree with her statement about lying? Or do you just think in general that she was an idiot.

If the former, do you draw a line at what level of sin is acceptable to prevent Hitler from finding Anne Frank?

Would it be OK to kill Hitler? Would it be ok to kill the person who you knew would inform hitler? Would it be OK to kill the person who saw Frank slipping into your house, who you think might go tell someone who would tell hitler?

Young Christians, with their newfound faith, often see the commandments of God as absolute commandments to be followed, and trust that God will honor those who honor Him by making it all work out.

There were many early Christians who allowed themselves to be torn apart by lions rather than commit the rather small sin of lying about their own faith in Christ. Some of these also saw their wives and children put to death because they wouldn’t lie about being Christian.

So, let me put the left-wing question another way. Anne Frank is in your attic, and a Nazi shows up at the door, and asks “Are you a Christian”. You know that if you say you are, they will search your house and find Frank.

Do you deny your faith to save Anne Frank, remembering that in the Bible people gave up their lives and the lives of their families in order to “tell the truth” when lying would save lives?

Why is it “idiotic” to admit that you would tell the truth even if that truth might put lives in danger?

I’m not saying I’d tell the truth — but what makes it “idiotic”?

For goodness sake, she lives unmarried with her boyfriend

DO you have a citation from a serious, dependable source that says they are boyfriend/girlfriend? I haven't been able to find ANY indication that they have a personal relationship of a romantic nature, but I wondered about it.

On the other hand, people who could have saved their families by lying told the truth about their faith instead, and got them all killed.

That Maher picked O'Donnell for HIS show, to represent Christianity (which he hates and wants to discredit) and Conservatism (which he likewise hates and wants to discredit) doesn't speak well for her being an intelligent or rational spokesman for the cause.

Myself, I wonder how many more “bodies” he has to throw out.

And as a note for future reference in vetting candidates; if they were on a liberals show as the token Buchanan (put up as a caricature strawman to discredit a position), walk away. Just walk away!

Frankly, these things help her to distract from the more substantive issues. I think they'll backfire on the Lefties--unless they plan to hit the more substantive things, non-titillating problems (e.g, FEC issues).

As for veracity, she blew that quite clearly when she got caught lying in fundraising efforts. She told her marks that she'd won two of Delaware's three counties in 2008 against Biden when she actually lost in all three.

When confronted, she claimed she'd misspoken and meant to say "tied"--which was true for one of the counties, if you rounded off...but she'd lost 57%-43% in Kent County, and 72%-28% in New Castle County (the county that has 2/3 of the states' population/voters).

Interview here, and actual election results here.

To my knowledge, she hasn't cleared this up...she just used her old standby, the victim/persecuted card. :-(

I want her to stand up and be honest--and win this election!

Here own financial disclosure forms that the Dems are trying to use against her where she says her and her boyfriend/campaign manager rent a room from their home owned by the campaign as their residence.

It is pretty common knowledge that she admits (page 3 of the article below).

http://www.delawareonline.com/article/20100320/NEWS02/100902061/Delaware-politics-O-Donnell-faces-campaign-debt-back-tax-issues

At that, CREW is trying to use the financial aspect of this against her even though they are really twisting it to smear her.

She gave an answer we have probably all given in some form, and at some point, “God would find a way,” and we are right to trust in that.

However, we also shouldn’t let libs and/or non-Christians get away with this “but the Bible says” stuff that they use on us time after time. What do they care what the Bible says about anything anyhow — except as an end to their means.

Lying to Nazi’s looking for Jews — so they could torture and kill them — would not be bearing false witness against their neighbor.

this story. It won’t go away. Keeps expanding. Keeps getting air time.

Wrong.

"Stories", in and of themselves, do absolutely nothing.

Mediots, presstitutes, and propagandists repeat them (or not), expand them (or not), give them air time (or not) based on their agenda.

For 99.999% of MSM mediots, presstitutes and propagandists, the agenda is all marxism, all the time.

What have these MSM mediots, presstitutes, and propagandists who dig up dirt on Ms. O'Donnell bothered to tell you about Barack Hussein Soetoro 0dinga Whatever 0bama's illustrious past?

Hmmmmm?

There's a lesson there, a message, for those with ears to hear and eyes to see.

Hannity indicated that she had appeared many times on his previous shows.

Can he produce old videos of some of her commentary on conservative issues? That might go a long way to redeem her longstanding commitment to the ideas of conservatism. Anyone have a connection to Sean that might produce such interviews?

In a heartbeat. Scumbags don't deserve the truth. In your way of thinking, I can't lie to a mugger, a murderer, a rapist. Ok, fine, you want to turn the other cheek all the way to an early grave, go ahead. Not me, though. I'll take care of business and sort it out with God later.

Wrong. Mediots, presstitutes and propagandists only repeat stories that have legs. Sometimes, they’ll repeat a story with legs despite the fact that it is harmful to their agenda. For example, Al Gore’s tenants’ complaints about the deplorable conditions of their apartments, or Hillary Clinton’s failure to tip a waitress. Some stories have legs. Other stories don’t. The Mediots, presstitutes, etc., can’t just push their agenda, because they work for major corporations who sell things during the air time during which “news” is reported. So they must report a story with legs to keep the public from tuning in elsewhere, and they can’t report a story without legs, because that, too, will cause the public to tune in elsewhere. They can try to work their agenda into that template, but that template rules. As to what kind of story has legs and what doesn’t, there’s no reliable way of predicting it. But once it breaks, you can tell a story with legs from one that doesn’t very easily.

“Yeah. Plus, I keep posting these obscure articles no one would ever even see if I didn’t, right here on FreeRpublic. “

Except that they’re right on AOL’s Welcome screen when I open it up. Wow. Really obscure. I had to click my mouse once to find that bit of ancient lore.

It just won’t go awaaayyyy! And I am, like, you know, like, freaking out!

I realize you’re freaking out because I observe that a story has legs. Get over it. Go have a life.

” I wonder what my excuse will be when she wins it going away... ?”

Excuse for what? I observe that a story has legs. That’s plain. I couldn’t care less what happens in Delaware one way or the other. I don’t even live in the United States anymore. Enjoy your tea parties, your elections, your economic collapses.

I enjoy watching from 7,000 miles away, and I enjoy talking to other right-leaning people about what I see, but really I have no stake in it all anymore. So stop taking casual observances so personally, or snidely suggesting that I work for Carl Rove just because I post two articles about Christine O’Donnell’s past life. Even the Arabs where I live aren’t THAT paranoid. Sheesh.
