For me the first modern Tea Party was Free Republic itself. Those who were here during the Clinton administration know exactly of what I speak. Freepers were active when it was American principles that were being violated. Now that it’s everybody’s wallet that’s being violated, suddenly it’s gotten popular.

Yep, I was a lurker for many years before I posted anything here and you are very correct. I am now hesitant to mention FR when asked by those I deem the enemy about where my interests lie. They already hate the impact of this forum, so I avoid mention of that concerning my choice of news sources.

That it is popular is good, it needs to be, and to remain free of being hijacked by partisan hacks and other power-seekers who will destroy it.

At the same time, that which is trendy and popular can fade as fast, and the minute fewer oxen are getting gored, participation may wane below critical mass if people don't keep their eyes on the prize of reclaiming our Republic, something we have been losing, one nibble at a time, for over 150 years.

There have been some good changes in there, but far too many which were wrapped in benevolent clothing which only laid the foundations for the Socialist mess we have today.
