What does the Tax hike have to do with health care? I fail to see the connection.

Let’s put blame where it is due, on the Democrats. I don’t think any republicans voted for this bill, except maybe that lame rep in Louisiana. Are you sure republicans voted for this?

Agreed. To attack the Republicans on this is misguided to say the least.

1st off, this is not a 4% tax on the sale.

2nd, it is a tax on the gains after the exclusion for homes owners (250K for single and 500K for joint filers).

I am against the tax but let’s argue on the tax not on what some say it is.

The GOP almost in unison voted against the health bill (Castle was one of the pro dem voters I believe and he is not one of the young guns).

This is the exact example of why all elections matter. The nimrods who were elated that McScam lost and also those who decided to not vote for anyone leading to the election of the imbicle in charge and his minions can now see the folly of their actions. It will be an uphill road from here and make no mistake, we are just beginning the journey that will take at least one perhaps many more to turn around this titanic mess we are in politically. Pray the nation lasts that long.

Dear Congressman (I assume that you must be one of them to make such a lame excuse for them), they are paid to read the bills; I am not. And even if they could not have stopped the bill (which, according to expert parliamentarian Michael Hammond, who writes here occasionally, they could have), they could at least have raised holy h*ll.

I honestly cannot believe that we now have the same people who rightly criticized the Dems for not reading the bill excusing the Repubs. Sorry: what’s not good for the goose is not good for the gander.

Our only viable option right now to stop the O Democrats is the GOP.

I know that is really a bitter pill for the 3rd party bots around here to swallow but that is the current political reality.

Anyone busy trying to undermine the GOP right now is actively working for the 0 Democrats.

The Republic is in danger, we have no time for these sort of back stabbing propaganda plays.

We need to keep our eyes on the ball.

Stop the 0 Democrat machine 1st. The rest we can work out after the elections

Remember Nancy said you have to pass the bill to know what is in it.

Much of that bill was written in after passage.

This is not the GOPs fault.

At the rate Obama is going, it will be a long time before anybody makes a gain from selling their house.

Sorry, don’t understand the first line of your post.

How is it possible to sell a house into the health care bill?

Pleas advise. Thanks.

“I can make a firm pledge. Under my plan, no family making less than $250,000 a year will see any form of tax increase. Not your income tax, not your payroll tax, not your capital gains taxes, not any of your taxes,” President Obama, September 12, 2008

Beginning January 1, 2013, ObamaCare imposes a 3.8% Medicare tax on unearned income, including the sale of single family homes, townhouses, co-ops, condominiums, and even rental income.

This is a tax on the "profits" you make from a home sale.

For example, buy a house for $200,000.
5 years later sell it for $300,000.
You owe Obama $3800, which is 3.8% of the $100,000 profit.

The hidden tax here is driven by inflation. If you make the extra $100,000 due to inflation, and it will cost you more to but a new house to replace the one you are selling, you still owe Obama $3800!

What’s with the vanity attacks on the Repubs and Tea Party this morning? If I didn’t know any better I’d say it’s coordinated.

Only 1 Republican voted for HR3962. That was Anh Cao [R] from Louisiana.

There was nothing the Republicans could do to stop this bill’s passage.

I agree that the Republicans have done a terrible job of “how” they opposed the Dems legislation.

Remember, November is Coming. We must put them on notice that things are changing and they have to grow a pair.

It could have been a game-breaker. It could have stopped the bill and exposed the Dems for the greedy, grasping, anti-middle class vultures they are.

Nothing could have stopped this monstrosity since the demonRATs by-passed the rules and avoided the requirement for 60 votes in the senate.

We need to concentrate on NOV 2, and not whine about history.

Then, if we are successful, we hold their BALLS, not their feet, to the fire.

We won't have to worry about our women conservatives, they have bigger balls than most of our guys.

"It’s outrageous either way, but is that tax on the gross sales price or the net (capital) gain?"

This is a SALES tax, based on the gross price of the home, taken off the top and included in the price, like all sales taxes we have to pay. There will also be lots of government report forms to fill out to the IRS, etc,,. What this will do to the housing industry speaks for itself. If you know how to build and can avoid having to buy, I'm sure they will figure out some tax for that also.

the GOP didn’t have a vote on this bill. It was passed before Kennedy died.

Pray for America
