I thought that Texas handled people like this in a more severe way.

She was convicted of a presumption of abuse ~ mostly because they took the kid to the doctor too late ~

There's no evidence they purposefully starved the baby, and there are many reasons why a child may have trouble with even its own mother's milk, or formula, or any other food.

Basically she was sent to prison for being uneducated ~ and she's being condemned by people here who have no idea why a baby may "fail to thrive".

I looked for more information on this case but that's the thing that doesn't pop up ~ the precise cause of death.

Hey, I was lucky to make it through babyhood ~ I could hardly eat any of the standard stuff ~ just mother's milk and cream of rice. Something like most formula then available, or cream of wheat, would have killed me. Guess that makes me much more sensitive to these situations than you'd otherwise guess.
