No endorsement in U.S. Senate race (liberal San Fransisco paper spurns Barbara Boxer)
The San Fransisco Chronicle ^ | September 26, 2010

Posted on 09/27/2010 7:43:31 PM PDT by Clintonfatigued

It is extremely rare that this editorial page would offer no recommendation on any race, particularly one of this importance. This is one necessary exception.

Boxer, first elected in 1992, would not rate on anyone's list of most influential senators. Her most famous moments on Capitol Hill have not been ones of legislative accomplishment, but of delivering partisan shots. Although she is chair of the Environment and Public Works Committee, it is telling that leadership on the most pressing issue before it - climate change - was shifted to Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., because the bill had become so polarized under her wing.

For some Californians, Boxer's reliably liberal voting record may be reason enough to give her another six years in office. But we believe Californians deserve more than a usually correct vote on issues they care about. They deserve a senator who is accessible, effective and willing and able to reach across party lines to achieve progress on the great issues of our times. Boxer falls short on those counts.

Boxer's campaign, playing to resentment over Fiorina's wealth, is not only an example of the personalized pettiness that has infected too much of modern politics, it is also a clear sign of desperation.

The San Fransisco Chronicle is one of the most left-leaning papers in the state. I don’t think they’ve gone against Barbara Boxer before.

I remember a number of years back when even the L.A. Times endorsed Boxer’s opponent, a lackluster Asian guy who ran a lousy campaign (can’t remember his name). But alas, even then Boxer still won, in this state filled with morons. It’s amazing how this incompetent dumbass keeps getting elected.

What's remarkable is that it took the San Francisco Chronicle 18 years to figure out the obvious. Boxer is not engaging in partisan and petty behavior... She IS petty, and mindless partisanship is all she has ever brought to her peculiar brand of "public service."

Anyone who knew her in her Marin period on the County Board of Supervisors clearly knows that.

Anyone who wants to learn her limited grasp of character and statesmanship should just talk to her election opponents while she was a huge (loud) fish in a very small pond. Ignorance was her name and sleaze was her game.

It is quite an accomplishment that she must be so bad, that the major newspaper in one of the most liberal cities in America can't continue to hold their nose and publicly support her.
Totally unexpected but, for me, also totally understandable.

The shock value has worn off. Same editorial was posted the other day, but it’s as close to a Fiorino endorsement as the Chronicle will go, given its Left-wing bent and it’s “Ma’am’s” hometown newspaper!

WHACK!

LOL.

Call her Senator Boxer. She worked hard for that title.

LOL, IOW the Chron thinks Fiorina will make a more effective Democrat than Boxer, and you know in terms of net effect, they just might be right.

Maybe Julie gave them a phone call and told them the score.
