BREAKING: JAYSON BLAIR NOW WORKING AT POLITICO!
September 28, 2010
Excerpts from a Politico reporter who seems not to have been at the event he was allegedly reporting on, probably because he's homophobic:
The broad surge in the conservative grassroots made it as far as PayPal founder Peter Thiels grand apartment overlooking New Yorks Union Square Tuesday night, where about 150 backers of the conservative gay group GOProud gathered to laugh at Ann Coulters red meat riffs on Democrats, blacks, and the Obamas at a fundraiser organizers touted as Homocon.
The event was Saturday night -- not "Tuesday" -- there were no "riffs" on "blacks" -- there were riffs on gays trying to be black and it wasnt touted as Homocon, it was called Homocon.
GOProud is an explicitly gay group that isnt particularly focused on gay rights, and Coulters speech full of conservative red meat, and only the occasional Judy Garland joke reflected its focus.
More than half the speech -- and the entire Q&A --was an argument against gay marriage. Was Ben Smith even there? How did he miss that?
Coulters presence at the event was controversial, as other gay activists pointed out that shed made a series of anti-gay remark she called former presidential candidate John Edwards a faggot which she explained away at the top of her speech as humor.
I said absolutely nothing about the (fantastic) Edwards joke all night, no one asked me about it all night, and Ben Smith is probably the only person in the country who didn't get it at the time and doesn't get it now.

GOProud: Another group trying to corrupt the country and shout down the voice of morality.
Thank Ann
An amusing post. But I still think Ann made a mistake attending. And I seriously doubt that this gay political organization has no intention of indulging in gay politics, as they apparently told Ann.
Yes, I happen to have a few gay friends, too. And I’m not gay. But I don’t lend my support to gay politics, even if it claims to be “conservative.”
It’s like my position on gays marching in the St Patrick’s Day parade. Fine, if they do so in honor of Ireland and St. Patrick. Not fine if they hold up signs saying that they are gay. That’s not what the parade is about. And gay rights or gay politics is not reconcilable with real conservatism.
Proves the theory of MSDNCPBS types all being liberal, biased, liars and now sociopathic too.
Ben Smith is a DNC agent, through and through.
Ann has lost me due to her apparent attitude toward
homosexuals.
“Yes, I happen to have a few gay friends, too. And Im not gay. But I dont lend my support to gay politics, even if it claims to be conservative.
“
Love the sinner
Hate the sin.
Coulter is 100% against the homosexual agenda.
That attitude is more than apparent, it's rock solid.
Darn! I am sure you broke Ann’s heart :-(
Oh yea how true!
Ann, in true form, jumped right on it
"Lost" as you no longer agree with her, or "lost" as you don't understand her thought?
If it is the former, you should consider changing your tag line to something more in line with your convictions; something like, "neo conservative, that really isn't conservative at all."
One of the reasons we can't support the homosexual in any agenda they may have is due to their constant attacks upon the morality of this country.
Have you never read, "To the pure all things are pure, but to the defiled and unbelieving nothing is pure; but both their minds and their consciences are defiled."
What is your attitude toward Sodomites?
Then why did she show up at this homosexual event?
Thank you for you’re well thought out reply: basically, I
don’t understand why she showed up at a homosexual event.
My opposition to giving homosexuals special treatment is
“rock solid”.
She is steadfast against gay marriage which what the discussion was about, she didn't waiver one bit
Mark 2: 13 Once again Jesus went out beside the lake. A large crowd came to him, and he began to teach them. 14 As he walked along, he saw Levi son of Alphaeus sitting at the tax collector's booth. "Follow me," Jesus told him, and Levi got up and followed him.
15 While Jesus was having dinner at Levi's house, many tax collectors and "sinners" were eating with him and his disciples, for there were many who followed him. 16 When the teachers of the law who were Pharisees saw him eating with the "sinners" and tax collectors, they asked his disciples: "Why does he eat with tax collectors and 'sinners'?"
17 On hearing this, Jesus said to them, "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners." -NIV
The only "air quotes" are around the word reporter in regard to Ben Smith.
Let me know if you'd like to be added to the Ann Coulter ping list.
Being gay is a bit QUEER however... no doubt about that..
You're a one issue voter too, I guess, right? Don't worry, the conservative movement will be fine without you.
My opposition to giving homosexuals special treatment is rock solid.
So is Coulter's.
She had the guts to go into the den of inequity and "preach" against their sins.
That's been an acceptable practice for 2000 years, remember who put it into motion?
