Border: Remember when al-Qaida targeted tribal leaders and local officials to assert power in the Iraq War? Today, the story repeats itself on our own doorstep. But incredibly, the Beltway crowd doesn't seem to care.
Mexico's war against drug and alien-smuggling cartels grows ever more similar to the horrors of Afghanistan and Iraq. Beheadings, stonings, car bombs and terrorist attacks speak to a lust for power every bit as implacable as that of the Afghanistan's Taliban or the insurgents of Iraq.
The cartels may seem to be just a police problem, but Mexico's own officials know better: President Felipe Calderon warns that everything about their actions says they mean to take over.
But even with such a nearby threat, there are no U.S. crisis task forces or special envoys. The Northern Command hasn't been bolstered. The unbuilt border fence is one excuse after another, hostage to domestic and electoral politics.
President Obama can't even be bothered to visit the borderlands in Arizona, where, for the first time in history, U.S. control and sovereignty over our own territory is being ceded to foreign cartels.
Does anyone care that a cartel has threatened to destroy a dam in Texas? Oregon officials report huge new cartel marijuana fields on a scale never seen earlier.
The Los Angeles Police Department even warns that five cartels have set up logistics operations in America's second-largest city.
It should be a national security crisis of the highest priority, right?

that said i always keep plenty or reynolds wrap and duct tape handy, but am often disgusted at myself for allowing my mind to drift into that 'conspiacy fantasy'...
the evidence and capacity for men to whore themselves out for a dollar is overwhelming, and 'follow the money' is just to damn easy when we're talkin multi BiLLIONS of dollars to be had...
very soon the race to power is to get to the trillion mark, and that takes some work and evil charachter...all are in place in every government known to man...
we got 'fat & lazy' and allowed others to be the gatekeepers...realistically *if* our masters decided to do a 180 in the AM, 230 infested cities in this country would need to be firebombed to kill the roaches...
well, Im a bit cynical, but have been counseled to stay within the system...keep callin, keep votin and keep yer powder dry...
but the writing is really on the wall, and the commies have the pedal to the metal for the final push...
may pushback time come before all is toast...
I’m getting the impression it’s kinda like turning yourself in, to be truthful.
When Billions become Trillions, then people, in key positions, can be compromised with VAST wealth.
All upon our backs. For Generations.
Well, I totlly agree with “keep votin and keep yer powder dry”, but I’m increasingly getting to the point of being unable to accept the “accepted view” of our world and still see myself as rational........I mean, how on earth did John McCain become the choice of the Republicans to oppose Obama for President. I swear, with a moderate ad campaingn, Joe the Plumber could have got more votes.
I hear you.
Maybe if we promised to pay each Senator a billion dollars a year, they’ would actually start looking out for our interests and it would be cheaper than the way we are doing it now. As a forgotten FReeper once said, “If voting could change anything, they wouldn’t let us do it.”
Ping!
In fact, sometimes just posting on this or any political website ........
You are 100% correct. It is indeed that serious. Few know.
understand yer frustration...but we have to exhaust all efforts to endure/prove the rot from within...itll prolly take cattlecars before the masses grudgingly resist...
