Taxing the Rich By John Stossel

Progressives want to raise taxes on individuals who make more than $200,000 a year because they say it's wrong for the rich to be "given" more money. Sunday's New York Times carries a cartoon showing Uncle Sam handing money to a fat cat. They just don't get it.

As I've said before, a tax cut is not a handout. It simply means government steals less. What progressives want to do is take money from some -- by force -- and spend it on others. It sounds less noble when plainly stated.

I enjoy having brilliant, motivated, and wealthy people in my state.
More of them means there are more good, well-paying, desirable jobs nearby.
Those people getting richer typically means my standard of living similarly improves.
How many have secured a good job from a shiftless, lazy, welfare recipient?

Most members of congress are wealthy thenselves. If one of them has a total of 1 million dollars income including their gov’t pay,,,,the U.S. taxpayer is paying around 1 fourth to 1 third of their tax on 1 million dollars. They’re laughing all the way to the bank.

If you really want to live in a miserable place, whether it be a country or a community, just pick a place where there are no rich people. I guarantee you will be in a *hithole.

Everyplace where I'd like to live has an abundance of rich people.

A rising tide raises all boats.

By contrast, when government steals from the wealthy under the bogus banner of “fairness,” a falling tide leaves a good many boats stranded and all boats lowered.

This is the very definition of socialism, and something which is totally lost on the Obama administration and others of the ilk.

The best - indeed, the ONLY - way for government to grow the economy is to deregulate business, lower taxes, and GET OUT OF THE WAY of the entrepreneurial set.
