If the maid was hired through a temp agency, ALL of the legal liability is the agency’s. Of course that FACT would escape the understanding of the general voting population of CA.

So, technically the maid did not work for Whitman. Whitman's contract with the agency should be examined. If they all claim that the maid was legal then Whitman is clear.
