Chastising a global movement to crack down on illegal immigration, the famously corrupt United Nations warns that governments worldwide must respect and protect the rights of all migrants in an irregular situation. Aimed largely at Arizonas new immigration control law and the recent French expulsions of Roma migrants, the rather amusing U.N. admonition calls upon states to ensure that their laws conform with international human rights standards and guarantees at all stages of the migration process.
That means that local governments must protect illegal immigrants fundamental rights, including the right to be free from arbitrary arrest or detention as well as the right to seek and enjoy asylum from persecution. Illegal aliens must also have economic, social and cultural rights, which include health, adequate housing, education and favorable conditions of work, according to the U.N.
States like Arizona that pass measures to curb illegal immigration are driven by hostile domestic constituencies, the U.N. asserts. Too often these states address irregular migration solely through the lens of sovereignty, border security or law enforcement Deep stuff from the scandal-plagued group thats largely sustained with American tax dollars.
Buried in the U.N.s enlightening two-page statement is an acknowledgement that states have legitimate interests in securing their borders and exercising immigration control. However, those concerns cannot trump the obligations to respect international law which guarantees all personseven migrants in an irregular situationthe necessary rights to enjoy a life of dignity and security.
The warning provokes outrage as well as laughter considering the U.N.s own Human Rights Council is best known for the oppressive regimes that comprise it. Among them are the worlds worst human rights violators, including Libya, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Cuba, China and Russia. These countries dont even offer their own citizens rights or protections, much less to transitional migrants.
Janaury 2011, 1st order of business —> close the UN and expel all members, their families, and their staffs....
The UN can kiss this... ( )*( )
Will the United Nations invade any state in the United States that doesn’t adhere to its mandates to further “human rights”?
(D-Day on the Arizona border by blue-helmeted thugs?)
Illegals have no rights in America.
Question: What do the Chicago government, Washington and the U.N. have in common?
November can’t come quick enough. This coupled with the UN small arms treaty...enough is enough.
Time to leave and kick the whole mess out of NYC.
F the UN. Toadies to evil.
Their rights are back in Mexico where they left them. We’ll be happy to help reunite them.
Encourage unelected UN bureaucrats to refrain from political grandstanding against the US. Defund the UN.
“solely through the lens of sovereignty, border security or law enforcement”
If there’s another lens, I didn’t get it. :)
Immigrants are green card holders.
Do not allow them to use the good and honorable title of “immigrant.”
NO BORDERS, NO COUNTRY
I think I saw that one on Barack “Citizen of the World” Obama’s car.
OK, let’s respect their rights. They have a right to go home, other than that I don’t see any rights for people who are here illegally.
“U.S. Warned To Respect Illegal Immigrants Rights”
Their “rights” are the right to be escorted to the border and tossed to the other side, pronto.
and how should we treat hikers who stray over our borders?
Follow the example of Iran?
Must... defi ... the ... United Nations...!
Time to build toucher camps for illegal aliens just to disrespect the invading illegal aliens “rights”. After all we should respect the rights of all criminals that break into our homes.
Anyone crazy enough to ignore the clearly stated warnings and trust-pass, deserves to get themselves blown up.
Call me cruel but the UN’s arrogance brings that side out of a man.
Someone earlier suggested a catapult.
“and how should we treat hikers who stray over our borders?
Follow the example of Iran?”
The same way we treat anyone who jumps a fence and ignores posted sighs. They are clearly not only blind but very athletic.
Land mine the border in between 2 layers of fences, no wildlife and no human life should be between them fences.
From an organization where dictators don’t recognize that their own citizens have rights, or even legal immigrants for that matter.
Asylum scammers like Obama's Aunt Zeituni will probably be a huge problem in the future, especially if we finally begin enforcing immigration law after Obama. It's all too easy to make up some "fear of persecution" reason for claiming asylum in the US and West in general.
No, no, it's protect the rights of all migrants in an irregular situation.
Maybe they just need some Ex Lax.
That murky, imprecise term "migrant" is becoming more and more popular, as if it still a time of just natural movement and no national borders.
I have guns, ammo and attitude.
Go right ahead... keep pushing.
I, too, have noticed, especially from UN voices.
“Someone earlier suggested a catapult.”
We have some very inventive folk here at FR.
I’ll sign on to a catapult technique.

“The UN can kiss this... ( )*( )”
Mind your own damned business UN. This is the United States of America and NOT YOUR BUSINESS.
They are not in an "irregular situation", they are here illegally.
That means that local governments must protect illegal immigrants fundamental rights, including the right to be free from arbitrary arrest or detention
Arrests and detention pursuant to their breaking the law are not arbitrary.
Illegal aliens must also have economic, social and cultural rights, which include health, adequate housing, education and favorable conditions of work, according to the U.N.
These rights are to be properly pursued in their home countries.
The UN also has a habit of screwing up our language.
